The Old Folks Home

A few days of freezing daytime temps, maybe 10-14 days. Lots of chilly nights, though. (Great for fruit trees!)

I do have a heater stand for the waterer. There are two very large vents in the coop, so I don't know if moisture would accumulate all that much. But good to know!

I used to live in Roswell from 60 to 63 we got about about the same amount of cold and snow.... We had Pecan Trees Oh Yumm.

we trick-or-treat through the woods grabbing all of the nuts from the squirrels!

nah!

We DO have a town, of 5,000 ya know! Bustling metropolis! But, only a few streets really set out lots of candy, and there are only a few streets where the houses are close together to make the trick-or-treating fun (walking a mile between each house in freezing cold and snow does not a party make -at least not for the under 21 crowd-)

Anyway, one of the churches, and the local school AND one of the local bars, set up activities for the kids. The coast guard decorates their entire boat as a haunted house, admittance is by canned goods that are later donated to the food pantry. The coast guard does their boat in two shifts, the first one is for little kids, then there is a super scary adult only haunted house later.

Actually, there are LOTS of adult activities...I think that every bar in town is doing something fun. (we have alot of bars in town)

Ooooh I want pictures..... especially of the Coast guard boat... Sounds like a hoot. Yeah the desert is pretty much the same much much smaller town maybe around 1000 people... 200 in town and the rest scattered verrrry far apart. Its the schools that do the Trick or treat stuff..... combined with a carnival cake walk dart throwing someone getting dunked.... ten cents a ticket and the money goes for the next party....

here in town they bring car loads of trick or treaters up from Mexico.... plus the usual local kids and littuns.... But the big affairs are done at either school or church... for those parents that want to keep their kids "contained"...
