The Old Folks Home

We were gifted a fantastic bottle of aged anejo tequila from my bf's bosses when we bought our house 8 years ago. It was fantastic, similar to a great bourbon or whisky. I normally hate tequila, but I loved that stuff, and it came in a beautiful cobalt blue bottle, I think we still have it somewhere.

This is my tooth right now
I go in less than 2 hours to get it taken care of.

I'm eyeing this bottle of buellit bourbon with a longing look in my eyes. Surely the dentist would understand if I had a tipple or two to dull the throbbing in my mouth.

Ouch!

It is good that you will be getting that taken care of.

Wisher, I can't tell you how much I feel your pain on the predator thing.
I had a great breeding program going with 8 disparate flocks and lost all but 1.
It set me back 4 years.
Some of what's going on sounds like a dog but it doesn't explain the small openings and I agree that it doesn't sound like a member of the weasel family.
I just caution people that are experiencing predators (or not yet) that the plethora of species and sheer numbers of vermin/predators that enters or resides on one's property is beyond belief. I've seen multiple coons, possums and coyotes in my small space on the same night.
If you catch a predator, be aware that there are many more where that one came from.

It may be time to check out the use of snares.

Green Eggs and Ham and Cat in the Hat were after my time.
SCG
I have the same experience. The Dick and Jane readers bored me to death. It was all I could do to sit and listen to kids read at a painfully slow pace.
At 3 and a half, I asked my mother to teach me to read and she did so with the encyclopedia Britannica.

How are people reacting to the non-symptomatic ebola nurse?

vehve, no one and I mean no one on my 20 mile trip to town this morning had a single pumpkin or scary setup on their porch. I was shocked. I thought I'd be the only one.

DK, I'm a chicken too but I'm happy you went to get that tooth taken care of.

chickencanoe, same here with the books

It's crazy windy here and the chickens are going nuts. They are a wary breed but they're alerting to every blowing leaf.
It is dropping into the 20s tonight and a freeze tomorrow night too, so I'm going out to pick all the tomatoes, chilies and basil.
I dreaded this night.

@superchemicalgirl You ever make a cloak? You wouldn't happen to have a simple pattern ready? I don't know what kind of fabric I've got in storage, but we're supposed to go to a costume party tomorrow, and I thought I'd throw together something Robin Hoodish, I can take my longbow with me for a authentic feel.

Take sheet, tie around neck..... Done

(Don't pick the pink flowered one)

I was thinking something slightly more elaborate, Alaskan. I'd like something with a hood. I just thought SCG might have made one, since she seems to play around with her sewing machine quite a lot.

We could have some German in our lineage on my dads side. But TB in his family caused them to be untouchables... no hugging no kissing... All his sisters got it and spent various times in TB wards... One sister spent two years in one.... All survived... When the vaccine came out dad had such a reaction to it the doctor wouldnt do the second one....

I had to teach myself to return hugs when I was a teen.... my personal space at the time was about three feet away.... Arms length. I had to teach myself to get over it.

Funny thing is My son was that way from birth Not a cuddler even as an infant... Hed get too hot then start crying.... Hes still got a big personal space around him...

Holloween weather report====
Record snowfall last night in many towns, record cold tonight-low teens to single digits

Good news tho is the "urchins" are more likely to be throwing snowballs than eggs, much easier cleanup!

Never get any urchins at our door. They can't find us. We are about a 1/4 mile or so past the end of a dead end road and no yard lights. All the country folk load up the kids and haul them into the county seats to trick or treat. Only towns big enough to bother going to.
