Setters? As in good broodies? If so yes, I love a good broodie breed... But I also love my commercial sex-links...
The eggs at our health food store will be totally local, I think I know who's chickens they are even...I'll ask first and make sure she has Roos... Recycled cartons so any dates will be from the original eggs, not the ones actually in the cartons. Thanks for the chocolate layer info, but I will want to know what I'm doing before I order eggs. But once I figure it out... Well just try and stop the madness!
Yes as in broodies.

Cochins are. For chocolate layers that go broody, Penedesencas.

The only stores with fertile eggs around here are at Whole Foods. The eggs come from Wisconsin, then ship to the distribution center in Chicago, then to the St. Louis stores. By then they're 2 weeks old.

I'm going to wait until spring before we set any eggs. But then I'm up for a little hatch-a-long.

@Wisher1000 I was pulled over by a Finnish colleague of yours in the morning when I was returning from the store (We didin't have any bacon

). Then they gave me a breathalyzer test. I pointed out that their right headlight was out, only the parking light was working on that side. He said that "Yeah, the light on that side is a little faint" "No, it's out, only your parking light is on." "Yeah, maybe we should change the bulb, so that we don't get a ticket..." "Shouldn't you give yourselves a ticket?" Then he walked away muttering.

I always use the burned out headlight as a sign that it isn't a cop following me.

I just googled those white layers. I really like the look of those minorcas best. That big white earlobe is flashy. The ancona looks alot like a Marans that i have

I love the huge Minorca eggs. I crossed a white Minorca with a black Penedesenca. The daughter was white with a few black specks. The eggs weren't dark but even as a pullet I got an 84 gram and a 92 gram egg on successive days. 71 is a Jumbo egg. I still can't understand why I sold her.

Lol
That attitude would have got you a ticket here for sure.
Nah, they can usually take a joke. Plus, they were driving illegally, so I did them a favor. What if they would have gotten pulled over?

These are sort of hard to miss:

Finland is a weird country when it comes to attitudes towards the police. Lately there have been a lot of scandals. The chief for the Helsinki drug police is sitting in jail, being charged for corruption and apparently he has pretty close ties to some drug ring. Also, loads of people have been added to some suspect registry without a proper reason. But still, when people were asked how they feel about the police, over 90% say that they trust the police. To my understanding, that's a pretty high number.

*Edit* That's the Swedish text visible there, "Polis". Ther other side is in Finnish and reads "Poliisi". I'd like to buy an old cop car and paint "Rövare - Rosvo" (Robber) on it.

CC, thank you, thank you, thank you! The Bucket Trap is a great idea, easy to make, and should do the job well.

The last time i got an attitude with a cop was in chicago. They pulled us over for no reason. I started smart mouthing off to them during the search of the chevy blazer. They whooped me like a red headed stepchild

sexlinks are a hybrid so they will not breed true. They will break out into the parent stock. They may or may not be good layers but they will lose hybrid vigor so will lay less that a sexlink.

In Washington State is is illegal for an un marked police car to make a traffic stop. Most do not know this. A motorist was pulled over by an unmarked car and the plain clothes sheriff argued with the man. He got it on tape and when the detective realized it was already in cloud storage he left.

It pays to know the laws. Here in Woodland, a special gang unit shot and killed an hispanic. They were not wearing uniforms and only had badges. It is scary when you realize there are people pretending to be police out there.

Yep I know ronnot1, I don't have the right birds to breed them. I really like the black sex link I have though, the reds are great too...
Crossed with my EE roo you get a really neat bird though... Buff colour, olive eggs, great layer and a decent broody... That's what marshmallow was.
Should I feed them something different if I want to hatch eggs... Am i nuts or is there a breeder feed?

Assuming they are already parasite free, a good high protein fee, like a grower or show feed along with free choice calcium. Light is important so check into the correct light color for rooster fertility. I think @ChickenCanoe has posted that before.

Too much calcium is bad for Roosters.
