The Old Folks Home

Hey @hennible , I know (assume from your posts) you've already ordered your incubator, and wish you all the best with it! You did mention that you intend to follow that up with a "built" one... I am not personally to the point of incubating/hatching yet as my birds only just started laying (4 out of 30+). Most are just reaching POL and doing a very light moult. Anyway, to the point:

You might consider checking out @Sally Sunshine 's thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...bator-how-we-did-it-and-test-run-ready-set-go. When the time comes and I'm ready to incubate, this is the way I intend to start out. I will most likely build 2 and use one for incubation and the other for hatching. Several have done this and reported similar excellent results.

When I was younger just a few years ago, we used wax too for our jam. Never did jelly only jam. Even though I am "29" I don't feel a day over 21! When I'm sleeping that is! I have decided to pick a number a stick with it! Hence "29" Still young enough to have fun and old enough not to get into too much trouble!

Ok here are a few pictures I have so far... my coop and run with one hen photo bombing. I couldn't pick just one.

This is my coop and run. The coop was here and I added the run. The short section of run was already sectioned off on the ground with stone set in cement. I put up the sides and roof. Everything is sloped towards the front right side so the big part of the run was tricky. I have been working on it for 2 years now. Almost done. It's time to redo the inside. I don't know how much I'll be able to get done though. I still need to put up trim boards on the coop and paint the back side. The short sides I hope to actually reside next year. I also need to paint the windows inside and out. There is a large one on the opposite side (east) and three narrow but longer ones on the short (south) side with the run attached. I'll just keep working away until I can't due to weather. The sides of the run are all panels with 2x4 wire on the out side and 1/2 inch hardware cloth on the inside. I need to put down a hardware cloth apron all around and stone will go over that and then patio pavers or blocks on top of the stone. When I am done for the year I'll put more pictures up on my coop page.

He must be really hot in that coat.

The picture of dinner will have to wait until another day.
