The Old Folks Home

We got new cell phones. Samsung Galaxy s5 Active. We got a great deal on them, and we each got new LG tablet computers for $0.99 each. Our old phones were a little over 4 years old, and Dh has really been needing a new one. Mine is fine, and will be passed down to one of my daughters. The funny thing is that I use mine a lot more than he uses his, but his began slowly breaking down one function at a time until it finally quit working. The main reason I got the newer one was for the camera, and HD video recording qualities, as well as that the new one has flash, which my older phone didn't have, otherwise I would have stuck with my older phone. I've got a lot of the stuff set up, and transferred from the old phone, but it will be a work in progress for a few more days.

I got a jar of peanut butter for my bucket trap. It was the store brand, and the oil was floating on top, which was not visible behind the label when I got it, so I stirred it good. No matter how much I stirred, it remained very runny. It was all I had, so I smeared some on the can. When I went back to check it, I got nothing. All the peanut butter slid off the can, down into the water. The other thing was that the coffee can, instead of being painted, as I thought, had a plastic outer sleeve, which came loose. After removing the outer sleeve, I smeared a little more peanut butter. Today I will get a different brand of peanut butter that is the right consistency. If this doesn't work, Friday I will go to the do it yourself pest control place, and get some baits that I know will work. I am tired of being tormented, and seeing my chickens tormented by stupid mice. I spoke to a couple of the neighbors yesterday too. They've both had trouble with the mice as well. Both of them got mice inside their homes, but used traditional rat traps, so they wouldn't have dead mice inside their walls stinking up their homes.

Bama, while I enjoy seeing the chickens at the shows, I love seeing the turkeys, and geese there.

I disposed of two rats last night and re filled the cups with the tomco liquid raticide. It works amazingly well.

They were big and healthy rats--eating all that good chicken feed.....

a little bacon grease will attract mice, too. Put some on a piece of dog kibble and you'll be like the Pied Piper.

Good morning...
Alaskan just let my spelling slide if you know what I mean. That was a good one though....:lau
You can get absinthe in the liquor store but it is not the same as European absinthe.... No wormwood in it....
Ok well I will be quite for awhile now....
I just lurk over there...

could be the feet... they get wet and stay wet?

The deal with Silkies and cold is they dont handle getting wet in cold weather... Or at least I was told that... Show girls would be no different... Did you find that the Showgirls came in or stayed in when it rained?

I had two Silky roos they had a plastic dog house in the coop just for them because they couldnt roost with the rest of the chickens. when it rained Ho boy they were in there peeking out when I came to feed. Their dog house was under a table so i could keep their food and water out of the elements.

I've drunk the modern day USA absinthe....Nothing to write home about in flavor or effects. No visions or bats. I think in previous formulations it was far more potent. The pouring it over a sugar cube thing is kind of interesting, though.

Mom and Dad always allowed us a sip of whatever they were having at cocktail hour. Learned early that I didn't like most of it (kids have a palate for sweet, not gin martinis) I never did get drunk in high school. College was another matter, though. Cheap wine is worse coming back up than going down, but a good lesson. Now could be considered a teetotaler as I have maaaaaybe three glasses of wine a week. The kids, however (in their thirties) are big time into wine tasting and collecting. I just snicker as there are so many other things to spend $$ on that will last longer (like would you rather have a Brinsea or a bottle of wine?), but can also remember when I was their age and my ex was into the same thing. Nowadays the selection at Trader Joe's is a perfect fit for our tastes and lifestyle.

Deb,
Every time I've worn a tee-shirt around a horse without fail I've ended up as a big Kleenex, quicker if it's a white shirt.
I always got a sip or two.... told never to drink away from home... I think I had my first real drink when I was thirteen... Cheap wine Was out on an over night trail ride... and had to ride my horse home in 90 degree heat the next day... The horse motion made me feel sea sick... and it didnt help to look down.... the only thing I could do was shut my eyes and park my horse behind someone who had a horse that didnt kick... Mom took one look at my green face that day and laughed as I went to bed....

WRT Tshirts and horses... never fails....
LOL... usually the boobs too.... Never fails.

To continue with our feed discussions on the thread, what do you guys think of garlic? How often do you feed it, have you noticed any adverse effects?

I have heard of feeding the horses garlic to keep the flys at bay. I dont supplement so havent tested that theory.... Same goes for DE.... The DE discussion for me goes back more than fourteen years.
