Like I said they are a hoot.... Mine was either an Eastern Wild or a Rio Grande.... no matter but he was a gooood flier.

I have heard of feeding the horses garlic to keep the flys at bay. I dont supplement so havent tested that theory.... Same goes for DE.... The DE discussion for me goes back more than fourteen years.

Garlic is on the list of things that can get into the egg. It is supposed to change the taste so it is not supposed to be fed to them in large quantities.

If looking for anti biotic properties, feed them oregano plants.

You can get absinthe in the liquor store but it is not the same as European absinthe.... No wormwood in it....

thats early .... My roos did an "Alls Well" crow at about two AM... then they were quiet till about four...

I miss my roos of all the chickens I have had I could always identify which roo and loved their silly ness....

you must be a light sleeper or he musta woke up for the two am crow and was very loud? did they have more personality to you or maybe a case of since I dont have them? I just mean how did you find them different from hens?

I'm out of the Nystatin now, I have iodine, oregano oil, and Teatree oil, I've been considering using the oregano oil on the favus. Any thoughts?

There is a list of things that chickens cannot not eat and should not eat. It is on BYC but remember that a lot of things on BYC are myths perpetuated. Research them.

I used to take Nystatin pills for Candida.... they worked.... Sad to say my insurance ran out and they were too expensive to keep the prescription filled. Oregano OIl most definately.... That was on my list of organic remedies.... that and a high protien diet...

I take it this is for chickens? I think I missed the issue...

I quoted the wrong post but will answer the question about using oregano oil.

It cannot hurt to try it but cut it with a good olive oil first--do not use aroma therapy oil, use edible oregano oil. There is a difference--aroma therapy oil is often cut with mineral oil that is toxic. Edible is usually cut with olive oil.
