The Old Folks Home

Wisher,
You had a VERY bad and sad day. My sympathies on your losses. Look forward to the day you can rebuild your flock. Hope and promise are always good in situations like yours.

ChickenCanoe,
Glad you're out of the woods or, more precisely, in the woods out in the boonies. I remember growing up we never locked the front door. Wouldn't dream of leaving it unlocked now.
I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around what's happening out there. I mean, just because you're disappointed (in the verdict) doesn't excuse bad behavior. Heck, every two-year-old toddler learns that that sort of acting out means a big timeout. Saw on the news, actually, where families (with toddlers!) were turning out to watch the riots. Really??

It frustrates me to no end because if the shoes were on the other foot (i.e., swap the races around) I don't believe there would be any rioting. Heck, I think O.J. Simpson in comparison almost got a parade for his verdict, even though nearly everyone by this time is pretty convinced he got away with murder. Did it seem just and fair? No! But folks witnessing the Great American Judicial Travesty didn't go burn down Home Depot and things vital in our community to express disappointment. What validates or justifies that kind of behavior??

Okay. I apologize for my rant and to those it may have offended. I've got a pretty high IQ, but sometimes I just don't get the human equation.

edited for clarity
Explained it perfectly. I'm totally in agreement. But don't expect any changes anytime soon. People like to destroy. Hence the games that people play. People that don't play the games do it in real life. Pick a reason. Any reason.

I saw one stealing a compound bow.

Looking on the bright side. The lady I posted about yesterday that lost her cake shop she opened in June sinking all her money into it got some good news this morning. Somebody started one of those donation things for her yesterday. By this morning, 22,000 people had donated and it's up to $61,000.

Area students have come out in droves to help people clean up in both Dellwood and the South Grand area. It's just a shame it was necessary.

I do want to add the the local cost here for LED is between $10 and $20. Depending on the type of socket, brightness. And there is one other thing that marketing claims haven't made too widely known, is that the actual lumen output is not actually the same comparable brightness. Incandescent lumens (light) goes out further in their space than does CFLs and LEDs. And CFLs reach further than LEDs. Thus giving the different ambience to a room.
Well, that makes me feel a little better about incandesants. Since I bought 48 before the prices went up. 60 watt. I wish I'd seen Ozexpat's diagram before.

Ahhhh, that's nice. Pay it forward to the rescue. I love that idea.

.for rye real soon as there is nothing growing in my yard. How does the A frame work? Do you just let them peck thru the holes of green plastic and get what they can? I eat Kale several times a week and would be prone to grow it for my consumption rather than theirs.

PVC Pipe makes a really light A frame that you can move around the run or garden. Some plastic can be added to provide frost or snow protection. Many greens like Kale and Spinach take the cold very well. In the south they grow all winter long. Kale and Spinach will survive hard freezes especially with some protection.
