Sorry, I've been having trouble getting on. Try to keep the humidity around 45-50 at lockdown. Not above. You are drowning them. Been there, done that. When they start hatching, it will go up. I keep paper towels under the vent opening. That's how I add water. Forget, filling up the bottom. TOO much. They need to cool down from day 8 to day 18. When you feed in the afternoon, take the top off for a couple of hours to lower the temp. It promotes better mortality and better hatching. Ronott1 is the expert.

Linda: i have been keeping it dry up until day 18....are u suggesting a totally dry hatch?
25 to 35% during incubation--first 18 days works for most breeds. Living in a humid place you may not need to add water to keep yours at that humidity. I have to add a little here because it is so dry here.

High humidity and low ventilation removes Oxygen from the incubator. the chicks will suffocate. You can tell that the humidity is too high if the view window on the incubator fogs up.

@bamadude tell us some more about your hatch:

Day of hatch
condition of chicks
humidity during the first 18 days
humidity during lockdown

Any deformities
egg yolk absorbed?

Deb, you could save an encrypted copy on some cloud service. That way you would have it safe. I don't think people looking to steal someones unfinished books and people who are good at breaking encryption hang out in the same places, so you wouldn't be risking too much.

I haven't put together a desktop puter in maybe 10 years. When I was 15, I knew by heart what components from different manufacturers were available in the market, and what went with what... not anymore though.
