The Old Folks Home

CC, I don't use auto correct. I just fumble on the phone keyboard. Predictive text input can be okay, but I can't stand auto correct. It does provide humor though, when nokia phones first started using it, they're was an interesting feature. In Finnish, when you wrote "Tahdon halata sinua" (I want to hug you), it changed it to "Tahdon hakata sinua" (I want to beat you). Lovely thing to send someone

Funny how the programmers assume violence first.
War, not Love.

I just heard on the local news about some new restaurants opening after the first of the year. One is an Alaskan themed bistro called True Sites.

The décor will be a cross between a hunting lodge and a woodsy campsite. The menu sounds great.

I can't imagine life without a garden. Except for my army years, I've had some sort of garden my whole life.
Even when I lived in an apartment in the city, my neighbors and I commandeered a vacant lot where a derelict house had been torn down 2 doors away that was overgrown with a couple junk cars. We turned it into a vest pocket park With terraced planting beds, flowering trees and shrubs among the walkways.
In Costa Rica, one of my jobs was helping the master gardener work the manzana (about 1.7 acres) garden where all the produce went to feed the 300+ macaws.
CC, what an amazing life you must have led. Love the idea of gardening anywhere. I lived on 200 acres for several years and never gardened. My folks sold it down to 4 and I inherited it. Then I sold it down to 2/3 acre where we sit today. I have gardening space for a good size garden. This year I am going to go for it and really get one started. I let SIL talk me out of it last year because I didn't have the help available to move heavy things for me. This year I am going to simplify things with growbags and strawbales.

I dunno, some of the folks I know, the beating might be preferable . . . .

CC, I think it has something to do with "halata" (to hug) being more of a casual word, the proper word would be "syleillä" (to embrace). But "halata" is used more often in casual conversation.
