The Old Folks Home

what size totes do you use??? I need to get 2. Does it hold the whole 50lb bag? Is there space left over at the top? I need to get the smallest one possible to conserve space so I can get rid of my bucket feeders which are up against a wall. So many questions.:barnie

Yes they hold the whole bag, yes there is space at the top. I can't tell you how big they are apparently there's nothing on the bucket that tells me... But here's a picture.

Good morning....

playing catchup.

In high UV areas plastic anything disintigrates.

This is what i use for water made of recycled materials and semi soft sided

plus one of these

I plumb them with pvc adaptors so I can use hoses daisy chained between. The pvc has shut off valves so I can scrub and dump and rinse. Yep I dump em right in the floor of the coop. The water here takes about thirty seconds to disappear.

I only make one modification and thats when I have chicks in the coop. I build up access ramps to the tub with rocks or bricks and then I crimp down some chicken wire to fit about half an inch below the surface of the water... case any chicky doodles fall in. Kind of like a wire hat.

I also put a shelf over the top of the water so no one can walk around on the rim. Serves double duty because My coops are only half covered... the half that is covered is over the perches. The shelf keeps the water in the shade so it doesnt parboil any drinkers.

Look what I found sitting right in front of me waiting for Christmas decor to jump back inside. Duh. I think they are smaller, but taller than yours.

rubbermaid usually makes their products stackable.... so I would suspect
@hennible 's tub is just shorter. Same lid would work for both

I have a concept for a feeder that will hold fifty pounds..... but i need a taller flatter profile. so I can access feed from the aisle way. My whole concept for my new hen house will be to never have to go in the partitions on a routine basis. My doors are chainlink and getting my walker into the partition is an exercise in patience. Heaven forbid I am trying to carry a bucket or feeder in the process.
