I'm not sure that the glass photographic plate was used with only one type of photography.

Alaskan there were 5 men in that photo with one woman. You said that is the side of the family that you are supposed to resemble . 4 our 5 chances you are a MAN. 1 out of 5 you are a woman. I'm still betting on man![]()

Actually, I take after my dad's dad. I don't look a thing like my dad's mom (the one in the picture with the turkeys)
Alaskan I would bet some of the turkeys in the picture of your grandmother are Bourbon Reds (the ones that have the lighter color bodies and white wings). They are an excellent heritage breed. They don't get huge like the broad breasted varieties but they are extremely tasty. I might have to order up some fresh poults from Porter's this year. I am down to one tom and one hen after the coyotes visited this past fall and really need a more diverse gene pool.
ooh! Thanks for guessing. The picture, at a guess, was taken in the 1930s.
I'd try to find and post some pics from when I was young but I don't think tintypes would scan very well. And actually, I have scanned those too... they scan just fine!![]()
It's probably the mustache . . . .women can look like men... in my family tree it is pretty common actually.![]()
Well handsome is always better than homely, isn't it?
