I am starting to save up eggs for incubating etc...... and I am wondering how I am going to make sure that I don't incubate the double yolk quail eggs.... I can't always tell.

I know it doesn't really matter, if I accidentally set them.....except that I am such a softy, I would hate to know that they had developed half way and then died.....

Also, some of those quail eggs are BLUE when you crack them open! I would love to raise quail that lay blue eggs!!

not right now.... but I will take one the next time we crack a bunch.

The problem is that the blue is very clear when you open the egg, but before you open it the dark spots etc. that are layered on top of a quail egg mostly mask the blue color.

Very interesting.

When looking at quail egg pictures, some look blue, even in a picture... but no one sells just blue looking ones.

Maybe if you try breeding for the blue looking ones you might wind up with one? Just a thought.

I have Chantecler, Buckeye, and Bourbon Red turkey eggs in the bator. Only 18 so far but will be hatching everything till spring.
