growing Citrus from a seed is a crap shoot...

Most Citrus is hybridized.... but beyond that they have a good parent stock thats a good fruit they take grafts from that tree and graft them on a Lemon root. Usually the root stck is a good strong provider for the plant so it gives the graft a good strong start. The lemon is never allowed to grow branches of its own allowing the other Citrus to take over.

All Citrus produce thorns especially on juvenile trees. The older more roebust the fewer needles.... Kind of a way to get through baby hood.

So the seed you get will produce a tree but it will not bear the same qantity of fuit on it as the one grafted to a lemon.

Now If you are good at grafting.... My Grandmas on both sides of the family were citrus farmers.... One Grew Grapfruit on five acres and was able to support herself on them. The other was a tinkerer.... She grew several kinds of trees with multiple grafts. One tree had Lemon, Grapefruit, limes, Tangerines, Naval oranges, Valencia oranges....and Tangarines. It was a huge tree I am told carefully tended so no one branch took over for the whole tree.

Same grandma also had Stone fruit trees grafted the same way.... Peach, Nectarine, plum, and Apricot....

The only requirement is they be a similar kind of tree with the same needs...

The only thing my family didnt grow were Avocados.

Alaskan - SCG sounds like it would make a great TV show "Fair Exchange."

Every week it's something else Like Player 1 doesn't want to have a root canal. Player 2 has to babysit the 3 worst kids in the neighborhood - they switch. Every one is mostly happy, player 1 still has a tooth ache - player 2 loves getting gas at the dentist & figures he'd need a root canal sooner or later anyhow.
