The Old Folks Home

Kathy have you ever seen this plant? It is suppose to help mosquito bits.... I wonder if it will help my birds? I may try rubbing some on one to see.

We have plenty of that. Unfortunately I'm allergic to it so when I'm outside for very long I either suffer or have to take antihistamine. Many people with allergies are allergic to it.

@tnspursfan09 Happy birthday Maddy!

We're going to cull the messed up hatchling. I feel awful!

The wb roos are making a ruckus wanting fed. The 3 cemani have socks zip tied on their heads. I fell asleep on the sofa.

Yeah, leo full moon is here to throw monkey wrenches in everything I touch.
I am so sorry DK.

I have never hatched but it sounds stressful. I want to try it this Easter.

Could it be a breeder issue?

We have mild winter and early Spring but Summer is brutal.

I agree with you Guy, the issues with SCG's chicks this hatch are likely the breeder stock. It think there was isbar involved and that is one breed that GFF really messed up on. The only way to really fix the problem is to get some new blood involved--maybe find a line that was imported separately from GFF. Another option to try would be to partner with other isbar breeders and work to correct faults. Every three years swap eggs with the team.

The teams would need to cull hard and never help a chick. Doing this should get improvement in a lot less time. Also, isbars were never finished as an auto sexing breed. That should be worked on and there are notes on how to do it.

@chickwhispers It's Pannkaka. Swedish/Finnish traditional dessert, in Finland it's often served in institutions on Thursdays, as a dessert to pea soup. That's our menu for today too. It's basically a slightly less fluffy oven baked pancake, I season mine with some cardamom. Usually you eat it with strawberry or raspberry jam.

Okay, Old Folks, I need some advice. I need some strategies for increasing my energy level, quickly. I have gotten to where even the chicken chores (normally FUN to me) are not getting done, because I feel exhausted all the time. I don't do enough to feel so tired. I have already made some changes to my diet and will be losing a bit of weight, but I want some energy...NOW! Caffeine is not enough and is spent quickly. Energy supplements (5Hour Energy) work if I take them early in the day, but will not last until I get off work in the afternoons. If I take them later, I can't sleep that night. I'm thinking I need some B12. Have any of you done that? Any other suggestions?

Baking is healing to me. Awesomeness for Maddy! Get your bake on girl!!

My dish fairy came over last night and did all my dishes. I'm allergic to washing dishes btw, my talents lie in creating more dirty dishes.

Time to go get my kitchen all messed up again!

Methyl b12 that dissolves and not swallowed works best for me but a DR. can test for a deficiency and give you a shot also.

Cut sugar and simple carbs and make sure you are eating a balance diet. Sleep without sleeping pills.

Oddly, adding exercise can increase energy. I read recently that you do not want to over do exercise but simply getting up a half hour early and walking 20 to 30 minutes helps. Exercise will also help you sleep better.

Other things to discuss with a DR. are Thyroid issues and low light level sensitivity leading to SAD(Seasonal Affective Disorder)

How did I do OZ? Not too kooky of advice?

Thank Bunnylady. :)

Happy Birthday Maddy!

I dug into the registry and fixed it once. On the other occasion I used HijackThis.

@casportpony

Here are some pics I got of my hen she would not cooperate!

For not I am just putting regular natural tears to keep her eye from drying out. I got very crusty and looked so bad I thought she might loose it.
Please let me know if you think it is fowl pox.
