Vehve, our boy scouts made some of these for a nature garden once. Are you looking for something like that?

It's ironic - one of the biggest pest we have around here are Carpenter Bees. They are a large bumblebee, and chew their own tunnels into any exposed wood. Painting the wood may or may not deter them, but as you can imagine, 1/2" holes drilled lengthwise in 2-by lumber can seriously compromise its strength.

Another pest we have around here is a tiny little bee, maybe 1/4" long, that will fly/crawl inside clothing, and sting when it gets trapped between clothes and skin. I can't count the number of stings I've had from those little monsters!
We watched a Mama Carpenter Bee make her nest last summer. She hollowed out a hole under the deck rail. It took all my mom had not to kill her until I explained she was too busy to bother us. Now Daddy bee was another story, he buzzed us a couple of times but no stings. She worked almost all morning and then he stayed close by most of the day while she stayed in the nest . It was so cool to watch. Mom said after we went back home, she killed them.

I love that brinsea brooder heater plate and the chicks are so brave! I had them not in the box, until they started pecking the guitar in the corner. Cuteness over load!
I love mine, can't wait to use it again.

Tnt, I bet that was fascinating. Shame she killed it.

I crushed some egg shells in a bowl I was going to take to the chickens later.

It's amazing what kind of colors you get in the shells. I love the pale blue on the inside of the green eggs.

I know some people that had to get lamps that have sun bulbs in them to help with their depression in the winter months. They have to have their lamps on them so many hours a day. They say it has really helped them.

pretty colors
Love the flag photos.

It is still snowing here.

It is supposed to "stop" (turn to flurries) for the rest of the day until the next storms - Friday and Sunday.

I am mostly insane.

Careful! That's a slippery slope . . . . I have one hen that lays eggs that color on the outside, too, and Critter finds them so pretty he thinks I should get more of them.
