The Old Folks Home

it probably means start shoveling

I have to find my snow shovel. Don't know why since there's about 10 sq. ft. of pavement. I could just use my boots for that.

, things are going in, things are coming out.
the key to life

sounds like you caught it in time.

Updates are good. It's helpful to have a sounding board.

Mrs. Dude got some new cast iron skillets, pots, pans, dish washing detergent, laundry detergent, new sponges, brillo pads, bleach, comet cleanser, and some turtle wax for her honda odyssey van....

You are quite a romantic. Don't tell me you are going to wax her van.

@Cynthia12

If that was Tulume  ..... I been there...  Such an awesome place.   I went on an inner island cruise starting at Florida out to the bahamas then Jamaica and Grand Cayman then Cosumel.  At Cosumel we took a ferry to the mainland to Plya Del Carmen and a bus to Tulume.  twenty four years ago...  wow.  my life is sooo different now.

I was constantly amazed at how impossibly white the beaches were and how blue the ocean was.  When we walked down the docks to the boat you could see the bottom right next to the pier...  Soime of the Jamaican waiters were fishing off the pier and having a giggle fest...   And Catching fish...  But that water had to be at least fifty feet deep to allow for a ship to dock...

And you could see the white sand and a few rocks on the bottom....  clear as day.....

The Gulf Coast beaches are one of the best kept secrets. The Florida panhandle beaches are just as white and they are called the Emerald shores for the beautiful water. The water there is warm enough to swim in.

You are all killlllling me. Grass, sand, beaches.

Meanwhile in SCG-Land:
* IMPACTS... HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW WILL LEAD TO BLIZZARD CONDITIONS AT TIMES... MAINLY LATE TONIGHT AND SUNDAY. TRAVEL WILL BE DANGEROUS WITH SNOW COVERED ROADS AND LOW VISIBILITY. WIND CHILL VALUES ARE EXPECTED TO BE WELL BELOW ZERO SUNDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT.

You have my sympathy.

Well, it's 62 here in LA we have had the door open for several days. I do have news, though. It's supposed to snow this weekend lol

Linda our snow predictions have disappeared.

So true - much prefer a nice, quiet evening in with a delicious dinner prepared just the way I like it and the service is always great, lol.

Yes it is much more relaxing at home.

How lucky to have a vet as a roommate. I shared a house with a horse vet once, the perks were great... Feline blood transfusions and neuters on the kitchen table, lol, as well as any drug I needed for any of the animals. Dang, wish I had that roommate now, sure could use another bag of fluids. :(

Edited to add:
Haven't tubed any mammals yet, but would learn if I had to. Except for the horses, I'll let the vet do those!

I have a niece that teaches veterinary medicine at Auburn. Maybe I should take some lessons.

I sure hope so... it's been a rather dry winter to date and we need the moisture! No way it will come close to what SCG and the NE is getting, but even a little helps. It's only forecasting a total of 3-6" here where I am. We'll see... I hope they are wrong/off and we get more

Only time will tell. While the sun was out this morning when I went to feed the birds, I could see the front approaching from the north, it was right about 35 degrees, and the wind was increasing. It never really warmed up, the wind has remained up, and it is now completely overcast and gray outside, but the snow hasn't started yet. soon.... I hope.

Well, I'll just update away then. She hasn't eaten much more, and she doesn't seem interested in drinking. We gave her some fluids with a syringe, and she seemed to perk up a bit during the ordeal, and now she seems to be sleeping. We'll see how she's feeling tomorrow.

Sounds like she is doing well. Keep up the good work.

I have been stalking the thread lately and skipping around reading. Can't keep up with you guys!

Looks like I may have the opportunity tomorrow as we are supposed to get some nasty weather in tonight so we will pretty much be house bound tomorrow due to ice.

On the up side, I have a pullet who is going broody, I just wish she would hold off about 3 more weeks. It would fit my schedule better.

I wonder if Virpi would eat watermelon - probably can't find any this time of year but, It has high water content. I don't suppose they sell watermelon juice. I'm guessing it would be way too traumatic to hydrate through an I.V.

Please tell Virpi she has a strong fan base and we are all pulling for her
