I have raccoon visitors every night. I just hope I don't forget to lock a coop at dusk.

CC: people around here eat em. They will pay for em. A fully dressed raccoon here goes for $10-15 each.
They do ask that the seller leave ONE foot alone, to make sure it isnt a cat. Apparently people are selling counterfeit raccoons.

anyone want to give me a list of possible causes?

2 year old production white Leghorn with bare areas on underside, mostly the last rear half

- no signs of mites or lice

- no signs of going broody

-poop trays are full and

, but I went in and checked last night while she was sleeping, no body parts are touching the poop in the poop tray.



I have been feeding feed a bit on the low side for protein... I guess I will switch to the higher stuff next time I buy some.

Any other thoughts?

Vehve , I do have a cage that I kept a rabbit in. I also have a small coop. I curtained off another section so if I have to separate them I can put them in there. All I would have to do is move the nesting box. Wish I had seen your message earlier so I knew what you were suggesting. My cage is probably maybe 2 and a half feet by 2 and a half feet.

I get raccoons and possums occasionally. I was looking for night crawlers one night and heard a rustling noise a mother raccoon and about 4 babies were crawling up the light pole a few feet away from me. I used to like them until they wiped out half of my grandkids chickens. They forgot to lock them in one night and raccoons got 12 of their chickens.

Since keeping chickens I have no use for raccoons, possum, minks, weasels, coyotes, fox..however grandkids are always welcome here.dude if you get grandkids just send them here.
