maybe gross and a bit stinky, but awesome. That is a BIG reason why I love my chickens, they help me make sure that everything is used. The cattle place across from me has *truckloads* of rotting veggies from the local crops brought in for the cattle.![]()

Our government pays millions in research for increased milk production in cows, which creates enough surplus that dairy prices would fall, so they pay millions to dump the surplus in the river(s) to keep the prices up, and the market viable.
The reason there is only Grade A, is because no one can make as much money on Grade B. Remember, our government makes money on all this too, so keeping the prices up benefits them. Are we able to make most food much more affordable to everyone, and adequately feed the needy? Yes. Should we? Yes. Do we? No, because it's not lucrative, and would impact the profit margin for everyone involved. It's about greed, not about taking care of our citizens.
I actually think that it is all buracracy. The stupid laws that people come up with that say that bananas or cucumbers HAVE to be a particular shape, or that giving to a food bank means that you have given the no-value food a value... STUPID.
The laws are keeping people from being generous. Many places now have laws in place that state you may NOT give fresh eggs or produce to food banks, only prepackaged food.
Crazy governement, treating us like children, not adults capable of making choices for ourselves.
I was frying a chicken last night and my neighbor and her daughter showed up. Her kid is a 6 year old demon. I was hoping if I made them a plate of food they would shut up, eat, and go home. It did not work well. After they left Krista and I cleaned up as usual. Loaded dishwasher. Took out trash.
Well she called about an hour ago. She asked if we had seen her dentures. I said no. She said she had wrapped them in paper towels and put them beside her plate of food. I said we probably threw them in the trash. She asked if we would go dig in the trash to find them. I said no. She is more than welcome to dig away.
WOW, I am amazed that you fed her..... it might cause he to come back you know.
It's worse. They are beginning to cull the 5.2 MILLION laying hens on the commercial egg facility in Iowa and our governor has declared a stat disaster emergency and activating the national guard. You know it's not good when your gov. calls out the National Guard!
If anyone is interested, I listened to a great show today on Agritalk on Rural Radio where he was interviewed the chief veterinarian for the the USDA APHIS. All the latest on what's happening and how they are dealing with it.
www.agweb.com/agritalk and listen to the podcast for today.
Also, Jenny-O admitted in an interview last night that the hit they've taken will have a definite negative effect on their supply chain for the near future (no kidding). They're stock took a big tank this morning. Other sources on Rural Radio said that the entire poultry supply is going to be effected driving prices higher possibly into next year.![]()
That is completely terrifying.
