At 73 I believe I am amoung the oldest here. Birthdays fly by with no more attention than any other day. It is those odd moments of realization that smack me in the face. Or seeing a friend when she has not "put herself together" and is showing her age.

LOL.... I get that shock when i see myself in the mirror.... Its a startle then "whos that"... then oh...

I bought my first pressure canner for my birthday.... a 16 quart Presto...  and a Ball Bluebook

Never ever canned before not even to help so this is going to be an experience...  its small holds seven quarts.  If I like it I will probably get a bigger All American down the road.

Birthday is on the 9 th.  I need something to look forward to...  the canning that is.

I can tell you something that you should DEFINITELY NEVER DO!!! I get this stupid thing going where I will say my son is 29 - I' m 67.9, when he is 39 I'll be 77.9 then a long, ackward pause when I realize I may not be present for the 10 year jump after that. I think that is where the binging on ice cream comes in. I just don't want to think- ice cream numbs the brain until it's all gone.

Sorry, my anti depressant doesn't always work.

When we were younger we were always looking forward to birthdays - double digits, official teenager, driving age, voting age (smoking age), alcohol. After that there's not much left to look forward to. I haven't seen too many people excited to hit Medicare.
We should come up with some milestones so there's something to look forward to.
