Bamadude I do have two different models of the 1588. One I did order is also a low voltage bator that can be connected to a car battery in the event of power outage. It came with a regular house hold plug but you can buy the cables to connect it to a battery. They both have the switch. That is all I do know I hope it helps.

I bought it four or five years ago.... Mine has no digital read out of any kind. I had to depend on a reptile thermometer/hygrometer for temperature and humidity... I had to search for one that had two different leads one for temp and one for humidity.
