I had no idea how many species of squirrels there are in North America

We only have eastern greys and fox that are regulated in MO.
We do have a few species of chipmunks, ground squirrels and even flying squirrels but I've never seen one.

We have a very long season and very liberal limits, methods of taking and variety of valid permits. May 23 to February 15 and a daily limit of 10. Most use shotguns but even pellets, archery, box traps and body traps are legal.

We have flying squirrels, though I've never seen them either. Just read a article in the outdoor section of our newspaper recently that said you don't see them because they are only active mostly at night. 'Batsquirrels' I guess lol.

Lol. Our state bird is the "yellowhammer". They must be delicious because in all my 40 years I have never laid eyes on one.

It's a little overcast today but I'll take it. Second straight dry day. WOO HOO!!!!

Finished my sunflower table runner today and finished quilting my bird quilt early this morning. I am going to attempt to finish the binding on the bird quilt today, too.



I have to go back to work tomorrow. I am dreading it. I've let some people at work know how my father died (suicide) and I hope they've spread the word to nosy people who like to ask for all the details. I think if people can avoid asking me about it I can probably keep my tears in check most of the day.
