I suppose not many people in Maine have air conditioning. What's everyone up to today?
It's too hot here to do much of anything outdoors or even moving around indoors.

good stuff
Critter has gotten a rather painful reminder that he's not as young as he once was.
The temperatures have been in the upper 90's, with our usual high humidity; the air is so thick, you aren't sure whether you should breathe it or drink it. I can remember working outside all day even with the temps over 100 when we were in our 20's, and coming back for more the next day. But we were young and stupid then, and in better physical condition, too. A couple of days ago, Critter got himself into trouble. He'd been complaining that the heat seemed to be bothering him more than it used to, and he apparently just pushed it a little too far. He came home with a headache, muscle cramps, and feeling totally wiped out; he spent the whole day in the house yesterday, and still isn't 100% today. Fortunately, the weather has "broken" for a bit - it was in the low 70's with a nice breeze when I went out to feed the animals this morning. That felt delightfully cool - a night time low of 85 sucks!
BE very careful Heat stroke is dangerous... Electrolytes are good.... meaning Gatoraid or some such equivalent..... NO physical activity .... till he recovers... and it wont take 24 hours either.
Shade the neck and head wear clothes that are loose and preferably made of cotton.... And if hes not feeling better get him to emergency... not kidding.

The heat + humidity ' fer shure' is a killer. I can't stand it. Chicago gets wind chills at any time of year. I heard on the news that Lake Michigan is UP to unprecedented
levels. But I'm sure Chicago mayor will still charge suburbs a fortune for water. We usually have a slight drought from end of June to through August, I doubt it very much this year.
My sister always tries to get us to move out to NM that is hotter than heck BUT, no humidity. So if it's 110 in shade it only feels like 100. Plus she needs some "sun shade" whatever for the car dashboard because that gets fried. Everything gets fried. They have solid stone or concrete fences and the back yard is like Hades. She can't let the dog out for long. Plus her backyard is mainly gravel. NO WAY. My son visited her and I asked what it was like. He said "Death." That's enough for me. I vote NO.
