As to what's up with me, I guess you could say, the water level.:


Not 'zactly a precision instrument, but this picture was taken Saturday. This bucket filled again and was emptied yesterday evening; it was about half-full again when I went out to throw some hay to the horses this morning. This is the view from my back door:


(The only time I've seen more water back there was after Hurricane Floyd, and that was a one-two punch in combination with Dennis only a few days earlier.)

This mess is supposed to clear out by tomorrow - why am I hearing a song from "Annie," - "The sun will come out, Tomorrow, so ya gotta hang on 'til tomorrow . . . ."

Diva, it's a close tie between the two threads, but I love everyone in them equally. Haven't seen Martian yet myself. How about the Angry Birds movie, did you see the trailer? Thoughts?

Bunny, I think California might be up for a weather exchange program. Hope you haven't been overly troubled by the water, that kind of amounts in a short time span will mess things up. But hey, at least you don't need to water the lawn, right? Cause it's washed away.

Hope all is well with you now that you're a working stiff once more. Jobs do have a way of interfering with our freedom aye? I left mine last month and don't regret it for a moment!

Chicka - I must say I'm a little envious

I've rented motor homes multiple times for cross country excursions, and LOVED it! So nice to be able to stop and rest where ever and when ever tired. Makes travel so much sweeter. In reality, I think it saves $$ as well because you don't need hotels and restaurants... (specially when traveling with 3+ kids!) Like bringing a little piece of home with you

I'm sure you and DH will love traveling in it and hope it's all that YOU hope it can be! Looks very nice as well! Always wanted to own one, but haven't had that pleasure yet... Not sure it will/can happen having all the animals.

Glad you folks in the Carolinas and E/SE part of the country dodged the major bullet! Sorry about all the flooding though

Too much of anything isn't necessarily a good thing. Hope nobody suffered any heavy losses.

Wow Bunny, that's a LOT of water! Are you having any problems with gators or poisonous snakes due to the flooding? All that water tends to push them toward human occupied areas. Maybe after the flooding goes back down you can go collect stranded catfish and other aquatic critters & have a giant fish fry?

Yeah, Ron and I haven't been able to work out the details about interstate transportation - some of the states in between want their piece of the action, don't ya know.

But oh, the irony of your comment about the lawn! Critter spread some ryegrass seed a few days ago (most of the grasses used for lawns around here go dormant during the winter, so some folks use annual rye to have green grass during the winter). Rye germinates fast, but not that fast, so I don't reckon very much of it is where it landed now.

No gators - the nearest river or large lake is a few miles from here. We have lots of snakes, though, including venomous ones. From the time my kids were small, I have told them, "be sure you can see where you put your hands and feet!" I'm only going to be cruising my yard by daylight for a while, that's for sure.
