I usually forget to give ovations, so I'm sure I have never come close to whatever limit they have set.

I just wanted/like to give out a few to deserving posters. I guess maybe I give out too many... maybe I should be more selective/critical...

I did give you one today--The post about Pearl Harbor. Do you connect with a computer or using the desktop version? If so, in your profile thee is a link to ovations. Click on it and you should see that it has gone up.

If you are out of ovations to give though you will have to wait until tomorrow to give more. You should be able to give more tomorrow though.

I'm on a desktop computer. I don't check my ovations really, so don't keep track of them. As I said, I believe in free speech and say what I think/feel... I don't post looking for ovations. I don't post as much as some... more of a lurker unless something gets my dander up, or someone needs help and nobody is responding... Otherwise, I just browse and move on.

Nah... I'm still "...over your current limit for rating content. Please try again later." Well, later, I'm not going to try and go back and find all the various posts I wanted to give props to...

These two are culls, picked over ones at that. I still love them and know that while they may not be show material, they carry some show worthy genes. I'm gonna see if I can bring them out in the next generation or two!

Culls or not, those are light years above the vast majority of RIR.

They are truly lovely.

Why am I limited on the ability to give ovations? @support Have I done something wrong? @sumi Am I not a member in good standing? Is there some mystical, magical, maximum amount of good postings allowed per day that I'm exceeding in my reading?

I've been an active member (not as active as SOME

) since I joined 3/17/14, so what 18+ months? In that time, I've managed to accrue 1 infraction (someone ticked me off - hot buttons, gotta love it) and 2 warnings (One ticked me off too, but I controlled myself the other, I talked about moderation) and I have over 1030 posts... I'm not on here just randomly passing out ovations... and I really don't understand why they'd be restricted on someone who's been here so long and been a good member...

Maybe because I only have 189 ovations myself? I'm not trying to give myself an ovation but others who deserve them...

I guess if I paid for a golden feather membership I'd be buying a little more freedom to acknowledge when someone posts something worthwhile? Or maybe not... I sometimes wonder...

I don't get it either. I don't think a GFM makes much difference. I've had one 3 times over the years and it didn't seem to make much difference. I bought one and was gifted two. I think I've had 3 warnings over the years.

I have heard about members running out of ovations to give out but have not had that problem yet. I do not think it has anything to do with infractions but may have to do with membership type.

There seems to be a relationship between the number of ovations you have and the number and power of the ovations given. How many do you get when I give you one? Is it 5 or so?

Any idea why some ovations become one and others translate to two or three?
I think once you tried to explain what a 'unique ovation' is but I didn't get it. What's the difference between unique and regular?

Unique is when someone that has never given you an ovation gives you one.

The next time you get an ovation from that person it will be a regular ovation.

I'm not a big poster either and have never paid much attention to the ovation system...of course, there was no such thing when I first joined BYC

Thanks for bringing it up so I could learn something. At most times, I am only on threads I've posted on and sometimes on an educational one that I just read but never post on.
