Ron and Dude - You know I love you both, truly I do, but I only have one RIR pullet and she is not even in lay yet! Once she starts laying, I will be hatching every one until I have a flock of my own.... THEN we'll talk about hatching eggs. Sheesh! I've heard of counting your chickens before they hatch, but this is counting your eggs before they are laid! Well..........I guess that is about the same................

When I visit her in spring I will smuggle some out. I only require a few. Anything else I'm able to get through security (meaning Wisher, not TSA) we can talk.

Alright, but don't be mad when you get home to find that the eggs you swiped are actually store bought brown eggs and they aren't even fertile! Y'all are not the only ones that can be sneaky!

Ah vehve the difference between correlation and causation. Many in the news these days don't know the difference hence you wind up with statements like "I'm no scientist, but..." In that instance is when silence should prevail but doesn't IMO

Or as I read somewhere, "The plural of anecdote isn't data". And just because Chernobyl might have caused a decline in births, doesn't mean the radiation is to blame. People being afraid of it might have a similar effect. Or something else may have caused it.

But on a general level, providing anecdotal data to strengthen your argument is an efficient debate technique, if your goal isn't to be right, but to win the argument. Every time someone says "My experience has been that..." or "What happened to my uncle was that..." one should be prepared to question the validity of a statement. In my experience though (hehe), people seldom do, leaving you to come off as smart and knowledgeable.

I have suspicion that the recent news about red meat possibly causing cancer is some of this.

I do not eat that much red meat because it is expensive, but I will continue eating it.

To my understanding, the red meat stuff was actually based on a broader study by the WHO. And a lot of people eat a lot more meat than they would need to. But like you, I enjoy meat way too much to let that factor into my diet.
