just dropped by to read and enjoy your stories again.

Buncha nice folks here! I noticed the conversation regarding our California drought. Here's a picture I have of what used to be a lake. The little lines you see were boat docks. It's pretty bad here. We need snow pack in the Sierras, outr rain just runs off and pollutes the ocean.

@superchemicalgirl for any extra shoveling or usage of hay... Hay is super expensive up here... Wood chips and shaving can be had for work or close to free.... But I hate work, so I use them as sparingly as possible.

Alaskan you can try the ashes from your fire place

Just chuck em on the path and let God do the rest in the spring

We save the ashes for dust baths...

We toss them on the snow when it is close to spring, it does make a GIANT difference in the rate of snow melt.

I juSt keep thinking about how terrible duck poop smells... And how much they go.

such funny butchering stories today!

Really just the head sailing through the air, and the oddly narrated movies... I still laughed

I asked them to take photos of the entire thing, so what did I get? I got artistic shots of snow covered in blood spatters, and two movies, one of each duck after the head has been removed, narrated with comments along the lines of "it has no head but is still moving". I did also get a few shots of boys holding ducks, and then ducks hung up prior to being gutted, but that was it. No gutting photos, and no plucking photos.

And do not worry, the deaths were very fast and well done... my boys are getting SUPER good! They fully and completely understand that "happy meat is yummy meat", and make sure that the animals are happy until the end, and then leave this world as quickly as possible.

They are now also very good at gutting, but they have NOT gotten much faster at plucking... of course, since I now no longer have to do it

I really don't care much, as long as the finished product is lovely.
