The Old Folks Home

I would have paid money to watch that. Too bad we don't live closer...

Got my blue jay done.

SCG - that is beautiful! Well today our kids and their families arrived for our Christmas celebration. This makes the Princess so very happy

, and that makes me so very happy. Color me lucky.

I got locked out of the house a couple times, I had to crawl through a dog run on pea gravel, poo & pee pee to reach the in/out dog door. Fortunately for me I was stick thin at that age (no hips to speak of) and got thru the cocker sized doors. Dogs were very surprised to see me do that. So was I.

Never could crawl through... but have reached in and opened the door.

Logic by not locking... anything I could lose from the house can be replaced. A Sliding glass door or window would put me in a world of hurt. Just the sliders would be 1400 a person or contractor to replace one would be another 2000 at least.

I was quoted 10,000 from one contractor.

Needless to say If I lost one that one would get boarded up by me.

Daughter and her family will go home tonight. They live an hour and a half drive north of here. Son and his family will leave tomorrow morning. They live a three hour drive south of here. Still better than when she lived in Georgia, and he lived in Texas.

Our Christmas season ended early when last night the tree decided it was done. For some reason it toppled over... Sad as it was a pretty and fresh Noble Fir from Costco. (Note to self: Next year attach guide wires to the top to stabilize.) Only 5 ornaments were the casualty, but what a sharded glittery mess! Of course, the stand tipped, too, so water and pine needles to clean up. We decided to take the tree to the outside and clean up the floor. Today was spent taking down the rest of the Christmas decorations and packing them away.

But the holidays aren't over! We're hosting a tamales and pernil party on New Year's Day for 20 folks. Should be fun!

At present we're enjoying the aftermath of the snowstorm. Forecasters predicted 1-3" of snow, but the unexpected blizzard ended up being named "Goliath" which closed down nearly all the roads and freeways in New Mexico. Lots of sideways blowing snow and ice crystals. Everything looks so serene blanketed in white....

Sorry to hear about your ornaments I hope they werent special ones.

New Years sounds fun

I think all that yuckie cold is blowing our way I really am not a fan of snow. If it was warm that would be ok but I guess they would call that summer rain then eh.

I think I will make Chillie or Beef stew for New Years and serve it in bread bowls.

I have clam chowder on the menu for the First. There will be bread too.

Peep - our tree did that too. It wasn't in the stand quite tightly enough and was fuller on one side that the other. I came home to find it had feinted and husband sweeping up broken ornaments. How much snow did you need up with in NM?

My doggie door is mounted in our back door, so I can reach the lock on the door knob if I stretch my arm up through the dog door.
