I kept looking, You are in the Sonoran desert.. right?

There is a super famous Range research station out somewhere in the Sonoran Desert. (never been there, so I never bothered looking where it was)

Anyway, it sure is interesting. I focused more on the 12 inches to 20 inches rainfall areas back when I was in school... so I am having fun looking about to see what can actually grow out where you are.

I will see if I can find one of my old books tomorrow, I can't find a really good list of possible grasses on the internet. blah.

Deb, if you already have some grass clumps, I would work on making them happy so that they spread out.

It takes pretty little to make a desert grass happy. Seriously, if you just dump some water on a clump one evening when you are out there, especially if you mound the sandy dirt with your foot or stick to make a tiny **** so the water can sink in at the plant, that might be all that it needs to spread a bit.

If you decide to toss some poo on them while you water them, do it in only one spot as an experiment. Some range grasses actually get all unhappy and sulky if you put them in good fertile dirt, it kind of depends on what you have out there, whether they will like the poo or not.

found Blue Gama

They also have pasture grass blends

One for my climate is

http://www.naturesfinestseed.com/sp...asture/southwest-desert-dryland-pasture-blend

It has
  • 35% Indian Ricegrass
  • 20% Sideoats Grama
  • 20% Blue Grama
  • 15% Arizona Fescue
  • 10% Alfalfa

Ooh me want for pretty

The dryland cant be grazed for two years in order to get it established. Makes sense

I will give it an experimental try. In the course of digging through pictures of Grasses some of those images look very familiar. I have to go up there to take feed up I will try to remember my camera. What about poo Tea. I will try water first. Matter of fact we have had quite a bit of rain up there I will spot the ones that perk up and Id them.

The guinea-antics resumed this morning. They're running up to the highest hill they have in the run and then queuing up so that one or two get to the "launching pad" at a time and fly down the hill and try to get on top of the roof. Then the next two go. They're nothing if not organized.
I find it more entertaining than scary today.

Speaking of cows, here's a Finnish milk advert that aired today.

I KNOW you couldn't get that broadcast on TV here! Had to look him up. After reading the description of his music, I know why I had to look him up

Takes a hundred acres here WITH supplementation.... They eat chaparal We dont even have tumble weeds which Actually have nutritional value. IF we could irrigatte there would be a whole different story.

deb

I believe that a massive amount of the land in CA is suitable for growing nothing but brush without irrigation. People settled the desert then brought in water.

WOMAN!

Me always glad to make you glad!

Looks beautiful, I can't imagine having the energy to do all that!
What do you do with the Koi in the winter? Not exactly a "burrow in the mud at the bottom of the pond to make it through winter" type of fish.

It was too! I was even a little late going out this morning. Elsa, my olandsk dwarf, was in the window of the coop giving me a verbal lashing for being late.

Weekday mornings I have to let them out early on account of work. They get let out by 0430. I have a group of about 6 to 8 birds that regardless of time, if mom opens the pop door, they'll jump out. If I turn the house flood lights on they can see a bit (plus the coop area has a bunch of motion lights) so in this case the early bird truly does get the worm. But regardless of whether I turn the flood lights on or not, they come out. They never did this until this year. I got 2 leghorns from the feed store, and they're the leaders of the early morning pack. The two chantecleers I hatched from chicka also join most days.

Given this about Lemmy:
His stated aim was to "concentrate on very basic music: loud, fast, city, raucous, arrogant, paranoid, speedfreak rock n roll ... it will be so loud that if we move in next door to you, your lawn will die".

Never heard it, never want to hear it

I'm not a fan of LOUD. Also not a fan of speedfreak R&R in general.

To each their own. And to hard core fans, if this were a verbal message, I would have to say:

Never heard it, never want to hear it

I'm not a fan of LOUD.
