Put on your Pharmacist hat--how would a staff infection for a person be treated?

I put it on and that's how I got to metronidazole. Most antibiotics don't penetrate into abscesses, but metronidazole is good for them. Cutting and topicals weren't doing the trick. My next trick was going to be topicals impregnanted into the hole.

Got the Portland Head Light done today. Well, not done, done, but at least the part I need a teacher for is done.

Poor turkey! I love turkey but, wouldn't want anything to hurry her to her doom.

As I understand bumble foot it starts out as an injury to the sole of the foot. Right?

Correct.
It started with me when I had some chicken wire dividing sections of a brooder house and when they roosted on the top board with the wire wrapped around it, they got cut.

Vets and techs tell me that surgery (opening the hole and extracting the puss ball isn't prescribed any more.

Thank you for the links.

Thank you. I'm fairly pleased with this one. The colors and shading could have been better, but for my second stenciling attempt, I'm happy. Now I gotta get some of the half-done projects completed in my sewing room!

Really?

(I hate it when things change on me)

If you just soak the foot, and apply topicals.. Hiw does the puss ball ever resolve and go away?

I'll let you know in a few days if metronidazole orally helps.

I know. The first edition of the Gail Damerow book tells to squeeze out the puss ball after incising.
When I've done it, I've also given a couple days of injections into the puss ball with Combi-Pen.
I think the idea is that with an open wound, it can take much longer to heal and leaves the incision more vulnerable to other pathogens.
