Scg my heat goes out to you for caring so much for your flock.

Same reason dog's nails need cutting, most pet dogs don't get nearly enough exercise to keep the nails trimmed naturally.

Same with some of my chickens, the Cubalayas for sure and at least the extra toe on the Faverolles. If you don't get the "on the ground" nails cut, the toe curls a bit and the nail lays sideways on the ground where it won't wear down. I have a pair of cat size bypass nail clippers that work well on the chickens.

Yes, we're about out of options at this point. They're very infected and swollen. I would take pictures of the beginning and the progress but I don't need people judging me. I know her feet are bad. And they look even "better" this evening than yesterday, although they still look awful.

Somehow SGC, I just can NOT see that happening. You are way past very well respected here.

We are having our first annual T-storm here... I'm hearing thunder as I type. believe it's off to the east so no rain for me. gonna get off here and go have a look. I love T-storms. Sorry SCG, she does look like it would be uncomfortable to walk. Like I said before, I sure hope you can get it cleared up.

Edit: just came back in and it appears to be building nicely right over me and is windy and sprinkling. Very nice

SCG, my first thought, what a lovely buff color! I really like buff... And yes, most of my chickens are black

Whatever.

Wierd though..l i can see no redness, even though her feet are clearly super swollen.

Just weird.

Did the redness already go away with your treatment?

And I TOTALLY think it is her, not your housekeeping. I have kept chickens in filth, and they never got sick, and kept chickens in nice clean conditions and they did get sick.

I think lots of it is genetics.

Whatever...

I can think of nothing that is helpful, except that you have my sympathies. After having doctored a bird so much...one naturally becime extremely attached. I do hope she manages to get a grip, and that nasty infection finally leaves her alone.

Yeah! Rain for you!

Maybe george carlin is right, filth is good? makes for a strong immune system?...I have no poop boards and only clean the coop every 2-3 yrs, just add bedding, leaves/sawdust, throw some scratch around, they keep it stirred up, no piles even under the roosts as long as a throw some scratch in that area, makes great fertilizer. My birds never get bumble, I've never seen it, don't get creapy crawly bugs, or ever get sick. Well I did have two get sick last spring, looked like mareks, they had the vaccine though, most my birds don't, none of them got sick, strong immune system's 'tempered in raw sh*#!'
Could very well be the genetics SCG, maybe Murray birds are predisposed to it? Do you have birds from other sources? And do you have any problems with them?
