The Old Folks Home

Ok not a buzzard warning snake pit however this sign IS outside my doctors office. How badly did you want to see the doctor today!!!!

I guess this is the "stress test"

SGC..you still crack me up...the buzzard story. You know you would have felt really terrible if a buzzard did that to a friend, you just know it.

Yeah, I know myself better than that. I would have significantly enjoyed that.

lol such a good friend to not scare the straights.....

for what its worth Buzzards arent the only birds that use puke as a defense.... Heron chicks will vomit over the edge of the nest when alarmed.

I brought home a couple goslings a couple years ago. They also did this. It was kinda like the "dennis gets eaten by the puking dinosaur" scene in the first jurrasic park. They ran away from home, thankfully. The feeling was mutual.

Yea people pretty much ignore the sign now. We have a squirrel or several that will "throw" pine cones at you from the tree.
Haven't been hit yet but close. These things would seriously hurt as they put dents in the deck.

No more snakes for me this year! I've had to get one out of the chicken run by myself and Dh and I got a 12' one out of the coop!

On another note I added some epsom salts to my tomato plants and my squash a couple days ago. The tomato's were not turning red and the squash had a few baby squash that got blossom end rot on them. I picked them off and put a couple tablespoons of epsom salts in the bags and watered it in a few times really well. And my squash jumped out of the bag and several of my tomatoes turned red. I am so excited it worked!
We did pick the ones that had started turning so the darn Mocking birds would not get them.

Nice I forgot that I add Epsom salt to the tomatoes when I plant them. I'll have to add it now.

Epsom salt and soil is like anything else, it will leech away over time. With all the rain you folks have had, it probably happened sooner rather than later...
Thanks. I'm still learning. I found a great teacher on face book. Larry Hall who started the kiddie pools and the rain gutter grow system. He has some very friendly and helpful people on his pages.
I love it.

Here's a link to his page if anyone wants to look.
