@chickisoup , prayers from here to yours, I've been a bit of a outlaw back yrs ago, never had a bad run in, and I've been pulled over numerous times, always let go. Only ticket I've ever got besides minor ones was when I was a idiot, don't ever bury the speedo cause your sick of someone following you too close for fifteen miles, at night.... I told her 'not to say you were tailgating, but you were uncomfortably close, over the next hill I have to make a hard right to get on my road, was just trying to give myself some space, almost been rear ended many times from people NOT driving so close.' She said she understood what I was saying, but she thought she was following a drunk, you were weaving over the yellow and white lines. 'Sorry for doing that, my dad taught me that when people follow to close, weave randomly, they think your drunk and back off, didn't work tonight though did it Lol!' (always works, try it) Gave me a 72 in a 55. DW seen the ticket, and says 'how fast were you going?' IDK, buried, 110-120? 'Ohh 72' OK...

@chickisoup I don't think people realize that they are just doing their job. They are sons and daughters, husbands and wives, cousins and friends, nothing different about our LEO's than any other American citizen, just doing their job.

I used to warn neighbors to control problem (Aggressive) dogs and the second warning included the words "If this dog comes on my property again i will chase it back to your house and shoot it on your porch if necessary, but i will shoot it". That usually solved the problem. I was a good shot. If the problem continued, it fertilized one of my trees. I have many trees and they all got fertilized. Last one i chased with a pitchfork and would have killed it in front of the owner if it hadnt outrun me. He saw the problem and got rid of it before any more incidents. I only shot very agressive or sick or injured dogs. The others i made more effort to resolve peacefully.

It was more rural back then. Too many eyes now and i dont own any guns anymore but i know where i can buy one if the problem returns Did you know you can buy pellet guns with more muzzle energy than a 22 long rifle, some as large as 30 cal. (Not cheap though)

I'm lucky where I live, the dogs that 'visit' have been farm dogs, leave my chickens alone, no interest thankfully. They CAN and will be worse than any predator though, horrifying. Luckily I have not have'd to take any further actions here.
My favorite rifle right now is a cheap air rifle 1,200fps Crosman G1 Extreme, knocked down a few vegan predators in my garden (huge wood chucks), and put a dent in the red squirrels stealing feed, not happy with its accuracy though, upgrading for sure. There is air rifles for any size game now, even air bows.

Tinnitus... yup, got that one covered here as well. I actually go for my hearing aid fitting next Monday. Mine is due to many years in the Navy around aircraft with loud engines. I've learned to ignore/not hear the constant ringing, but right now, while discussing it, it's right there droning in both ears. Finally got tired of always saying "huh?" and "what" to my daughter. Mine are covered by the VA as it's a service connected disability.

After all these years she STILL hasn't learned to SPEAK UP, and as many times as I've explained my hearing loss to her, she still sometimes gets aggravated when I don't hear her the first time. Her voice falls right in the middle of my worst frequency range. I get aggravated when she starts talking then turns away from me while doing so. That makes it even harder to hear/understand what she's saying. Ah well...

I had to laugh at this. My solution was/is not to respond at all. I don't say "Huh?" I just act as if I heard NONE of it. They will either repeat on their own or not. Okay by me. Mostly, they just learned to speak up if it was important.

Yep I 've seen it Ron. I used to think the tinnitis came from to much exposure to loud engines, gunfire and rock and roll.....now I find out it is genetic......bummer.

Now THAT'S funny. I may have to steal that one from you, JD!

You are not required to tell them, at least not where I live. It would be nice if you supplied the neighbor's number the first time and maybe take it to another shelter after that.

My neighbor across the road has pit bulls. They keep them chained, which I hate, but it's better than them killing my dogs, birds, goats, etc. I let my dogs roam, but they will not attack other dogs unless they are on my property. That widow sounds like she may be related to one of our neighbors. He's asking beaucoup for an unlandscaped not so special house that he and wife moved out of because they had special needs baby and no family would visit or help "way out in the country." Put it on the market and then started hassling the next door neighbor because she had horses. (Therapy minis, mind you) What's really outlandish in his claim is that our village is known as THE Horse Capital of New Mexico. Duh. Horses outnumber people population. Stupid lawyer....

My step-sister had one of "those cops" tailgating her late one night many years ago. Unknown car tailgated her for miles on the freeway, plenty of open lanes to go past her. She didn't dare get off for fear whoever it was would get her at a red light. She sped up a bit, still there, slowed down a LOT, car still tailgating. Finally got sick of it and (as best one could in a late 60's Bug) stepped on it. Lights go on, she got ticketed for speeding. Of course there is no way to prove that in traffic court and who are they going to believe?

Tell her that for a 1% "commission" you will keep your roosters in the dark when the house is shown.

27 acres by itself would have an asking price like that around here, or the house alone; absolutely nearby roosters would be bringing the value down on a cozy little estate like that. What is it that they say about the world of real estate being all about location, location, location?

But the ability to have roosters increases the value of the property in my book. We looked at zoning laws in many areas before we moved here.

Though I'm not sure the neighbor's behind us in their very expensive houses agree with me.

We have a little over 7 acres. One of the roads that ends on our property is a community of mainly 60's and 70's ranch-style houses, the other is manufactured homes on pretty good sized, individually owned lots - not really upscale, but not lowlifes, either. Most of my nearest neighbors have told me that they actually like hearing roosters - though I don't imagine they'd like them right under their windows at 4 in the morning.

The picture I posted of Syd was taken at the end of our driveway; the For Sale sign is our neighbor's. He has about 4 acres, and is asking $200,000. The house is no great shakes, it's all about the land. Anybody that buys thinking that they are going to divide and develop are in for a rough ride . . . . I just hope they don't give us one.

one fellow here who had an egg farm about six small production houses Not a big one by any means and he had Ostriches and a couple of pot belly pigs... on about ten acres.

A developer started developing the property next door High ticket houses... Really big ones....

The farmer put up a sign facing the construction and another facing the main road... talking about his farm and the fact that there will be smells and flies and on.

For what its worth his birds are cage free.. abeit High density... but still cage free. and yeah thats how brown it looks most of the year everywhere that is not irrigated
