The Old Folks Home

I had to put to rest an old friend yesterday. She just wasn't doing well and it was her time. It's never easy but this has been the toughest one in my life. Perhaps because I'm getting older and beginning to realize that my time is coming as well. Normally I take care of it myself but this time I did the vet visit route and I'll never do that again. ever. I'm a little better today, but still tear up when I think about her (like now, typing this). She was probably the best dog I've ever had and such a sweetie. I have my LGD Mel to keep me company, but he misses her too. I'll look to get him (and I) another companion after the move and I get settled. Sorry guys, was gonna keep my pain to myself. Thanks all for the well wishes without knowing why.

She will be greatly missed.

What a sweet girl. Glad you have Mel to hug when you need to.

@Latestarter So sorry about your loss..and it is a big loss. I've had to do this..it's so hard. It looks like your girl is a Golden. I am on my third Golden. And, she is my first female. I know she will be my last big dog. I will have my smaller ones from now on. And, I will keep it down to two, or even one once the older ones go. I have three, our limit here for now. Have an older Schnoodle ...really worry about him at times. Won't be long for him now. :/
Bless your heart, I know just how you are feeling. I had my other two Golden's cremated. They are in a beautiful little pine box with their names on it. Grizz, and Toby. Very large dogs. Really not enough room for them outside. Don't live on much land. This worked out for us.
Take care. <3

Thanks everyone. I think most if not all of us here have been through it. It never gets easier... Yes, she was a Golden. The vet asked if I wanted ashes or a paw print cast. I said no, not necessary. I'm OK now.
