That is funny!

Chicka I love the woven design of that scrappy quilt. You gotta love it when you can use up the scraps you have lying around. I have pounds of scraps to work with.
It was a lot of fun having SCG come visit for a few days. Did the first "serious" hiking I've done since leaving Utah while she was here. We did get a laugh out of the one with all the warning signs. While there were areas you needed to pay attention, it was a lot less dangerous than other ones we have been on with one warning sign at the beginning of the trail. I guess Utah/Arizona figure if you aren't going to read the first one, why bother putting more along the way?

Got a few nice pictures along the way too.
What is that, the frame of an old bridge? Whether under construction or demolition, it looks like work has been suspended; I wonder why?

BB2K and I did some horsin' around this weekend. Her hair has turned some unusual colors over the past year (it has been purple, and is currently bright red), and she had some hair bleach left over from the dye kits. Her horse Sunny is a chestnut with a lighter mane and tail - not flaxen, more like strawberry blonde - but the lower 2/3 of her tail has gotten stained by the peat in our soil to a coffee color. I don't remember whose bright idea it was to use the bleach to try and return the tail to its former lovely shade, but after brainstorming a way to make sure we didn't get showered with bleach solution and making sure we kept it off her skin, we gave it a try . . . . When we rinsed the bleach out, the tail was lightened so much, at first BB2K was afraid that we had gone too far, but once the hair dried, we compared it to the roots and nope, same color. Don't know that it would be something I'd want to do on a regular basis, but even the purple shampoo hasn't gotten it that clean. Then I grabbed Latte and we went for a short ride.

Yesterday, we took a couple of the minis for a walk in the neighborhood. She had Blondie, and I felt like Betsy needed some work so I took her. The last time we did this, I wound up half dragging Betsy most of the way because she seemed to be stuck in creeper gear. Did I mention she's a 32" mini mule?

She actually likes going on adventures, so I don't really know what that was all about. Anyway, I didn't feel like putting my arm out of the socket so I decided to try long-lining her this time; something we hadn't done in years. I wasn't even sure she'd remember how, but this is a mule, after all; a few turns around the barnyard and we were good to go.

We got off to a bit of a rough start; she was barely moseying along, and I kept stepping on her tail (note to self - trim time!) You'd think she wouldn't want to let Blondie walk away from her, but apparently she didn't care. There was a firetruck pulled over on one side of the street, and they both walked past the big noisy thing with the flashing lights as if it was nothing. At one point, BB2K got tired of hearing me nagging at Betsy, and suggested that The Mule and I take the lead and set the pace. I don't know if Betsy finally remembered that she liked exploring, or maybe she just got feeling important being up in front like that, but she suddenly found the businesslike fast walk I'd been trying to get out of her - even Blondie had to hustle a little to keep up at times. Turned out to be a fun walk after all. Have I mentioned how much I love that mule?

We don't get anything where we live so we stick to tracphone, costs $30 for two months, triple minutes, data not much but never use it up, hit wifi where available, and texts I must have upteen thousands of them left. So often, it's ridiculous, have supervisors at work "I was trying to get a hold of you!!!" yeah, got your multiple texts when I got here, you do have my home # , we don't have service at our house....same with our kids coaches and school in general, dang, all everyone can do is text? Can't pick up a phone? Talk?
Ditto!!! exactly the same here. We get a good laugh everytime the grankids show up. It's fun watching them hang off the back porch and run around the yard trying to find a signal

We're so far out in the boonies our Tracphone only costs us $20 every 3 months and we get triple minutes too. I figure the kids are going to inherit enough extra minutes to keep em happy for years after I'm gone.

For some reason, my phone tells me if I have a missed call, but tells me nothing about voice messages unless I go hunting for them. Not so with text messages; it shoves them in my face every time I look at it until I finally go and read them.

Same here. If we are lucky the signal pops in often enough the Tracfones don't die if we forget to turn them off. My wife's says "beep beep beep" mine says "Battery low, please recharge". I find the second one more useful

DD2 apparently dropped her Tracfone slider 'stupid' phone in a puddle. Long enough that 4 days in a bag of rice didn't do the job. She wanted a "smart" phone. She had 4,600 talk/text minutes on her stupid phone. That would be transferred to a new "smart" phone but would be talk ONLY. And you can only buy "smart phone" plans for a "smart" phone. A bucket for texts (can buy 1,000 more for $5 I think but you get no service time), a bucket for data and a bucket for voice. As you might guess from the # of minutes she had, she doesn't talk on the phone much at all, she texts at 0.3 min/text. The only way to get more service time or data is to buy another "smart" phone plan ... with more talk minutes she will never use.

She said "So my options are a smart phone with a stupid plan or a stupid phone with a smart plan?" She went with the latter.

LOVE my Tracfone. When I was in Las Vegas I had a different company and just flat basic cell phone coverage was $80/mo with a keypad text feature (meaning no keyboard, just numerics). I traveled to the Bay Area frequently and the coverage was pretty non-existent for much of the drive. Then when we moved to NM our cell phone coverage was stupid...couldn't get reception at the house but could down at the end of the block where the mailboxes were. Exit one cell phone. Now I've got good texting abilities, great coverage and it's costing a whopping $9/mo. Bought the phone on a home shopping channel where they were having a great deal of phone, minutes and service days.

I am, however, one of those folks that turns off the cell phone and forgets to turn it back on. Not glued to it by any means. Use my computer for most data. Phone is just a phone with texting for me....and that's fine!

Bunny it is an old bridge along the path. I'm not really sure what it was used for. It is near live train tracks and there was another set of cement/rock structures nearby that seemed to be more bridge abutments but only on one side of the stream. I think SCG tried to figure out what they were used for in the past but couldn't find it. It is slowly rotting away. I don't think anyone is working on it.
