This technique also works well with an attic. Avoid the basement. Sometimes you just gotta go down there and if that happens you will be faced with the decision of going through them or moving them to the attic or hay loft.
Silvadene is what lampworkers (glass artists who form beads and things with molten glass) use when hot globs of glass go flying. One of my mentors got hit so many times that she just got tattoo sleeves on her arms to hide all the scars. Some of us also wear welding aprons because you just cannot move fast enough if hot glass hits your lap or unprotected chest area. Being a glass artist sounds all glamorous, but in reality we're decked out like Kate McKinnon in Ghostbusters.

Boxes... oy. Move them someplace and forget until later, but realize you'll probably have the following reactions: (1) It's like Christmas! (2) Wow. It's a time capsule! Remember when... (3) I'm going senile. Is this my stuff?
The advantage to storing stuff neatly in boxes is you have one more defense against being called a hoarder.
