The Old Folks Home

Quote: I like my coffee strong but have not bought anything
but starbucks in like 6 years I grind beans for my BF
I have two cups of their columbia instant daily my Bf
drinks his pot with a bit of gourmet hot chocolate in
it.

I have always drank strong coffee, but this takes the cake. I quit drinking folgers because they kept putting their special roast in the regular can and I could not stand that stuff!
I emailed them and they said it was their prerogative to put what they wanted in their cans. And it's my money and they won't get any more of it! hahahaa
Now if Maxwell house is going to do the same thing I may find another coffee that won't change up! I may have to buy a grinder and start buying beans,.
My brother used to buy specialty blends that have flavors like banana nut bread! That stuff was so good! I have looked and I can't find it anywhere. He used to get it in the mail monthly.
I do like some of the expresso or late' coffee but I also want some regular coffee! I never thought that would be hard to get.

I spent most of the day outside. They are calling for rain over the next two days and frankly, mid 70's for the first day of November is too nice to spend the day inside. My main goal was to rake up leaves for the the coop. By the end of the day I'd done everything BUT rake up those stupid leaves. Now I will have to wait for them to dry again after the rain.

Then I discovered that my on again off again broody is definitely on again. Oh well, at least she didn't wait till January to make up her mind. Right now she is parked on one egg. Tomorrow I think I'll try to get some of our neighbor's OEGB eggs to put under her. I'd much rather deal with her doing this now when the chicks have a chance to be fledged before the end of the year when we get the worst of our cold weather. If the weather doesn't cooperate with me there is always the shop that is unused over the winter and never goes below freezing. I told my husband that if I break her she will probably just go broody again in a couple of months. Broody in January is not a good thing at all.

All in all a good day.

I'm having the best cup of coffee right now. But I agree, why can't they leave well enough alone? They make enough "blends"...dont they realize when we find the one we like, leave it alone!

I've made coffee for my hubby for years. Just started drinking it myself about a year ago. If we get coffee out, I always ask him what's wrong with it, and it's usually too strong. So I guess I make mine weak, but I make it the same all the time, and I like it that way.

OEGBs are awesome. Love mine. Good luck with your girl. Same here with the crazy weather, so I'm going to incubate some (I won the MPC contest), even though I said I was done until spring. I hope it doesn't jinx me for a long cold winter. With chicks indoors.

Hello everyone I just bought a new male turkey today and when the male turkey I already have attacked him is this normal will they start to get along or do I need to do something different with them

Congratulations on winning the MPC contest, WVduckchick.

I'm hoping Santa brings me the Hova-bator of my dreams this Christmas so I can hatch out some Sebrights this Spring. By the way Santa, I've been exceptionally good this year!

Yeah. I've got 4 OEGB chicks that my last broody hatched back in Sept. All 4 are pullets and just adorable. One has feathered legs so there is some crossing somewhere but tonight I was trying to corner one of them so I could get it used to being handled and the little smarty evaded me by jumping up on my shoulder (I was bent over)running down my back and jumping off my butt. Gotta love chickens that can think on their feet. I got the eggs in an attempt to hatch out some bantams for a friend and discovered that these aren't standard bantams. Our neighbor thought there was some cross breeding but wasn't sure what. They look OEGB but are only slightly smaller than my Buff O chicks from the same hatch so I'm wondering if they are standard OEG fowl crossed with a bantam of some sort or OEGB with a bit of barnyard mix thrown in making them slightly larger than a regular OEGB. I know they are developing some really pretty color as their feathers come in.

As for coffee, we drink both Folgers Black Silk and Maxwell House Columbian. We both like rich coffee but noticed that the Folgers Columbian had lost some of it's rich flavor. The next canister we opened we noticed that the coffee was a lighter color so we switched.

They can mess with the paper towels we can use. They can even cheapen up the toilet paper but DON'T ever mess with my coffee!

Since I'm the turkey fight expert... I'll chime in. I have 2 toms (raised together). They go for blood and have to be separated in the spring and this year in the summer, then again in the summer and now in the fall.

I would keep them apart (where they can see each other but not gouge each others eyeballs out) for a few days, up to 2 weeks, then reinsert them together able to touch and watch them so they don't kill each other.

Mine still fight and stalk each other, but no one is drawing blood. I figure it keeps them busy during the day.

Got my unfinished quilt finished. This morning at about 0900 I figured I had about 3 hours worth of work left. I just finished about 2100. Granted, I took a jaunt to BF's moms house and a quick run to the fabric store but I wan't gone for 9 hours, by any stretch of the imagination.

Thanks! Winning the eggs was a nice surprise. And maybe the OEGB is mixed with bantam cochin, since the feathered legs? Or silkie?

Wow! Absolutely beautiful work! Do you sell them? One of these days I'll have time to get back to my machine. If I say it often enough, it might come true.
