Wanted to post about Grain mites

https://entomology.ca.uky.edu/ef629

The link talks about their reproductive cycle and how to eradicate them.

One thing to note they are onlly into eating grains or grain products. The chickens and animals are not at risk. The only risk I would think is that the livestock would carry the mites to another grain source.

Oh man, some of you have had some real...yucky...problems with feed! I go to our big Mill in town. They are constantly milling it, it is quite fresh, never had a problem. Thank goodness. Sorry you guys are having problems. Hopefully you find out a better place to buy!

And yes, how is Deb, wondering especially after that fall!

Fine still achy.

I have had some problems with Purena but my feed store is quick to take it back and send it back. They are very very conscientious. And Knowledgeable about feed and storage.

The nearest feed mill to us is four hours away.... sigh. So in order to buy from them you have to buy a two thousand pound pallet....

The feed store I go to carries The full range... from organic to specialty Zoo products.

She just bought out a feed store that was struggling in the next town. They went through and PURGED the feed... There was product on the shelves that was over five years expired. Some of the feed was so spoiled they ccouldnt pour it out of the bags. She said they put about five thousand pounds of product into the dumpster. It was a combination of poor management and leaky roofs.

Oh and they had the place fumigated.... They have tripled business.

That sucks... the tsc in Chehalis does 1/2 the business that Morton does
half the staff with allot more on the ball knowing their customers and what they buy
and how they want to be treated... always good to us good products

While we have feed mills here, like others were saying, you have to buy in bulk to get feed from them.

Due to the high humidity here, it's not totally uncommon to get a bag of bad feed. Most of the local feed stores are careful not to overstock, so their supply is fresh, but they will exchange bad feed in a heartbeat. I've only had 2 experiences buying feed from TSC, and both bad, so I won't ever get any from them again.
