The Old Folks Home

I'll be processing my pumpkins today as soon as they thaw enough to slice. I made a mistake and left them outside last night. Frozen solid this morning.

I'm also turning some Dakota and Carnival winter squash into stuffed squash for me to eat over the next 2 days - the chickens adore the innards.

BF works the holiday so nothing fancy or official going on here, but I will at least make a pie. If they thaw.

to you on mobile. Takes me like, an hour to send something. I pretty much just strictly view from my phone. (Safer for everyone)

Mentioned "call" ducks to my hubby. He went on to mimic ducks "calling" us...by phone. The smart...you know what.

CMT is Country Music Television. It is channel #166 on Dish. Attention all old folks --If you are not going to buy it, you really should watch tonight.

I have Mountain Lion, Bobcat, Coyote, loose dogs, Hawks, owls, Vultures, Ravens, Raccoons, Weasels, Rattle snakes, Ground squirrels, Rats Mice and voles. The mesh on my wire is small enough that the only thing that can get through to the poultry will be edible.

I dont have the hot wire up Nor have I rebuilt the coop. I have had three major predator episodes that have wiped me out completely... whole flock. I consideer it my fault for not thinking through the housing as I should have. last one happened about five years ago and I tore down the coop for a rebuild when I get a chance to move back home.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

And hello!

(officially)

We actually have two LGDs for our sheep. But, they're strictly in with the sheep. They haven't been raised with chickens. I'm not sure that would end well.

I have considered bringing one down to this yard...lol. But I agree LGDs are the best. I just love ours!!

So low maintenance and so sweet!

We're holding off getting a puppy (I've seen some lovely ones this fall) in respect for Max our current all around yard dog. He's getting older now and slowing down, but he's SO tender hearted we feel he'd have a hard time and feel even more left out. He seems unsettled with my having all these chickens. He even seems to get a bit jealous of my little OEGB, Flash, that follows me. I can't talk to or pet any of the chickens without him trying to inject himself. We want him to feel very loved in his final years.
