No more dogs in the house until the older ladies pass away, 6 indoor dogs is a enough specially the shedding grest pyrenees rescue fluffy babies she spawns from shedding.

Wickedchicken6, consider yourself hugged. Living with back pain isn't easy, especially when your day encompasses so much bending and lifting.. I've learned to behave myself though and work around the back problems. When I saw the doctor on Monday he was pretty sure that my current problem was an inflamed SI joint on the left side. The only real way to diagnose it is to shoot a load of zylocaine/steroids into it directly. If the pain goes away, bingo. Sure enough. Pain went away. Oh well. What's life without a few challenges. What's tough on me is that I have these Red Head genes floating around in me that challenge me to push myself when all I should do is lay down and let my body rest. Aren't muscle relaxers a gift from God, tho?

Maybe ducks would be better for tick control, giving it second thought. We have a lagoon behind the barn that I told my husband is just screaming for some ducks to swim around in it.

I'm off to bake pumpkin pies. Spent yesterday processing a pumpkin. We get a pie the chickens get the guts. Everyone is happy!

That's not fun at all what you're dealing with.
(And oh my gosh yes! Muscle relaxants are the BEST thing. I try to take them only when really needed, I worry about my stomach in 10-20 years...but yes, couldn't function some days without them)

I know everyone has their own difficulties whether it be pain, health, loss...there are many.
Hugs to everyone...because I think everyone needs one, some days more than others.

we have Snow that is a pyrenees but just 4 months old our rescue of
the gsd Fear-Ah last fall she is the granddaughter of a dog I showed
for 8 years but we have 4 others including my Black Lab that flunked as a service dog
Moose we love all of them but Fear has been the protector of chickens she is 12 now
we will get another pyrenees but down the road..

I have an update on my ear problems. I was using drops that are half alcohol and half vinegar. They were helping but not much. I trued an ear oil that NOW sells but it made things worse. I decided to try one more thing and if it did not work go see a Doctor. It bought a little expensive bottle of generic lotrimin. It is an anti fungal. I started using it on Monday and I am already back to normal for me hearing and the itching and pain is nearly gone!

My ears had a yeast infection of all things. I am also taking oregano oil because I have a suspicion that there may be fungus in my sinuses too.

Got my eggs today and got them in the incubators. I inherited an Octagon 20 Advance, which is all digital, even has a humidity pump and is really cool, even compared to my bare bones not at all advanced Octagon 20 which until now I had thought of as a good incubator. The last person I let borrow my Octagon left it in the car for a few days in summer so the mercury thermometer "blew" and doesn't give a temperature any more. I'm going rogue in that incubator and trusting that I've almost never had to adjust it, I shouldn't have to adjust it this time.

I'll be breaking out the styrobators to hatch.

I've got 2 dozen assorted turkens (not all will hatch to turkens), 5 eggs that I've saved up all week for from my flock (a breakfast of oatmeal is sad but worth it in times like these) and 3 eggs that I got from a local friend who also saved up all week.

I hope I don't have 32 chicks in 3 weeks.
