The doctors released me tonight. YAY! It was decided that I'm improving nicely, and I could continue the same medications at home. They (doctors) are mostly waiting on the results from the cultures, which take time, to know anything more for sure. If I continue as I have been, I don't need to spend the time in the hospital for Christmas. If for any reason things change, I can always be re-admitted.

I'm tired now, so I'm going to rest.

Today they used a needle, and drained 1.5 liters of fluid from my lung.  There is more fluid, but they can only drain so much at a time.  It's not a fun procedure at all. 

I should know more about everything tomorrow, as quite a few of the test results will be back in, and should reveal more about both what I'm dealing with, and how to treat it.

Back at the beginning of 2016, I got that swine flu (A1N1?)....whatever,.... So, I got over it pretty quickly. Then I developed pnuemonia. I knew what I had, but thought maybe I could kick it on my own.

A few weeks later, I gave up and went to the doctors and was prescribed a round of antibiotics, which I took and finished.

I felt much better, but my lungs were still pretty screwed up. I smoke, and every time I get the flu, I have always had a couple of months of bronchitis, so I really didn't give it too much thought.

I also didn't give much thought to the fact months were flying by, and I was still halfway sick. It got worse and I finally went to the docs again. She said do not pass go, do not collect $200 , get yo arse IMMEDIATELY to the hospital.

I went to emergency, and they put me in ICU. They exrayed my chest, then did a petscan with iodine contrast and found a mass in my left lung.

They then put me in isolation, pumping me full of antibiotics through IV 6-8 hours a day and drawing blood every dadgum hour. They tested me for everything but ebola and pregnancy I think...( like 40 blood tests!)

They had me in isolation because they were checking for tuberculosis. They finally got the negative test results back from that and said I had a bacterial lung infection. They sent me home after 10 days with a $44,000 bill.

Then they gave me a 90 day scrip for antibiotics. I was supposed to go back for a follow-up, chest xray, schedule with a pulmonologist and an oral surgeon...( my teeth are toast from radiation from Cancer treatment.)

I developed chronic diarreah, and had to quit the antibiotics.

Anyway, I'm finally feeling almost normal, but it really sucked being really sick for almost all of 2016! But yeah, it sucks when you can't breathe!

I'm still smoking, but I'm breathing better, and feel pretty good on this Dec. 22, my 60th birthday! (Can't kill an old goat!!!)

@1FlewOver I'm glad you are still alive after all that- had swine flu not fun. I should say stop smoking but I expect they have all been at you for that, Doctors can be so boring
