The Old Folks Home

The bunny panel was missouri star quilt co, and some of the others are fabric.com and some are from fat quarter shop. Wait for the big sales. I also have a mardens here, which is surplus and salvage. They have a giant fabric department and all fabric is less than 5 bucks a yard. They also have panels and some kits and precuts on occasion. It is fabulous to have around here. Dsqard often sends me with a wish list, I take pictures, send to her then she respond with how much of which she wants. That's how good this place is.

Gotta go see how the quilt made it through the wash. I am worried about color bleed.

Got my crazy quilt for Crazy Neighbor Lady done... a great way to use up all the scraps that start to take over once you've sewed for a while. I sort my scraps by general color into bags. Been working since about May to piece the scraps together into blocks to get rid of them (in between projects and when I only have a few minutes here and there). I'm definitely not a big fan of this quilt, but I posted it with a "needs a home" and she responded almost immediately that she wanted it. It was fate for the crazies to find their way to each other. I still have a ton of scraps, I think next time I'm going to try to piece the blocks into more of an around and around log cabin like block than just randomly sewn together how they fit.

Beautiful work, SCG!

I am so jealous I was taught to hand quilt by my Grandma I was loosing so much blood trying to hand
quilt as my vision became smaller... I love to use old hankies hand embroidered as center pieces on my quilts
Hankies! What a great idea. I have always wanted a quilting frame but have never had the room for one. The local Amish store had a used one for sale a few years back. I thought it was a steal at a tad over 100$ and drooled over it for a couple of weeks. DH knew I wanted it and asked me where I would put it. That was the magic question and told him that was what I was trying to figure out. Luckily somebody bought it and put me out of my misery. I use large quilting hoops but think I might try to find a small lap frame on a stand.

Scg that is a beautiful quilt. I love scrappy things did you join the scrappy girls club on fb. They are a riot! They often do quit a bit of charity work. They make things hospital and elderly patients and cancer and many other worthy causes. They also have swaps where you make something for your partner and she makes something for you and you mail it to each other. The mods choose the partners.

I've always enjoyed hand quilting. I don't know if I could learn to machine quilt at this point in time although I will use my machine to sew together my big quilt when I get ready to put it together.

guess that is why I have the old White and Majestic by White only go ahead
turn it around to double stitch no back up but never fail

I've got some fabric to make pillow cases for the kids at the Barbara Bush Hospital. I think once all my friends get tired of getting quilts I'll likely quilt for charity. I tried to give a quilt away a few years ago to my library for their auction but that didn't go so well. That might be why I just post "who wants it?" and wait for someone to say it's theirs.

I should get my snowman quilt done this weekend - it's already quilted just needs to be bound. I have another gift quilt cut out that I need to play with and figure out how I want it to look before sewing it together. I still have a few kits that are also on my list. I'm determined, DETERMINED, to sew through my stash this year and attempt to not buy more or start other projects that I don't already have the fabric for, or most of the fabric for (I will likely have to buy backing and/or borders). I know that's likely not going to happen, but I'm going to try my best. I tend to get suckered into the quilt a longs on fb. Leah Day has one right now that's a block a month that is flowers. I tend to not like BOMs that much because I can't finish them at my pace and the thought of a project dragging out a year really kills me. I might join in fall, buy the back patters and catch up for the end of the year.

I love the quilt!

Accuweather said that there was going to be a break in the atmospheric river rain at 1pm so I went out to exercise....

The break lasted to the 2mile mark in my 3 mile jog. Then it was like I was in a river!..When I made it home, my youngest DD said I looked like a drowned rat!

I did get a lot of steps and intensity exercise minutes though...
