The Old Folks Home

Not much on this end either. If the weather lets me I need to do some work out on my chicken run/coop. My injured ribs have been keeping me a little more subdued than I like to be but I am still getting plenty sore when I overdo it and keep procrastinating things that need to be done. Luckily the weather has been unpleasant enough that it's given me an excuse for staying in, LOL.

Plus I have two or three sewing projects going. Make that 4, I forgot the chicken apron project, along with a crocheting project and a utility closet that needs to be built in the utility room.

I'm not bored, just lazy at the moment.

What's your weekend plans? I am going to finish my chicken tumbler quilt (just have the binding to go and I've already made it, just have to attach). I have a couple coffee cozies I want to make and I want to get started on an easter table runner that I have been meaning to make for 2 years, now.

Nothing too exciting here.

I am baking Sourdough orange ginger bread. I baked it last weekend too but did not like the result. The recipe had odd instructions for raising and baking. This time I am using the same ingredients but will use the traditional method of baking sourdough IE: overnight sponge and then two hour rise times. It will be baked in my dome stoneware baker.

Half of the flour is from Einkorn grain that I milled this morning.

Later I will turn the runs and add some river rock and straw.

That bread does look good. I need to make some tomorrow, thanks for the reminder.

I still haven't gotten the darn quilt finished. First I got a call that something I ordered in October was finally in and the guy wanted to deliver it today. Queue the mad rush to clean the basement where it was supposed to go. As soon as that was done I started to pin the binding on and my phone went off. Ended up having to go into work. When I got home I discovered that the squirrels had broken 3 of the 4 bird feeders and that required some dealings with.

Now, 8 hours later I'm finally ready to get to that binding!

tomorrow I need to bake sandwich bread. I will use hard red wheat for that one.

Ack! SCG I would have pulled my hair out!

Ron, I am greatly impressed with your culinary skills!
Thanks!

I love working with sourdough. Today I am using the one from Oregon. Last weekend I used one from Breadtopia.
