The Old Folks Home

They did the surgery, and only lost me twice. No, I didn't die on the table, they actually "misplaced" me. They're not sure if the surgery "took", but think so. They did take a couple tissue samples, and sent them to be biopsied, so I will get the results of that next week. I was in ICU for 2 days, private room, competent staff, which was NICE, then they moved me to the dreaded 7th. floor.

I got home yesterday afternoon. My phone was ringing nonstop. I got situated, took a pain pill, turned the phone off, and slept.
Great news about the surgery!

Rest up and recovering is important so good for killing the phone

Very glad everything went well with the surgery it is true nurses even Dr.'s are so overworked
in many hospitals I have a gp that I started going to fairly early in his practice, he is now head of the
Dr.'s for the Hospital he is associated with so much so it is now more difficult to get in to see him
and he does not take new patients any more

@getaclue, first off welcome home and speedy recovery! I hope your pathology comes back as clean as a whistle.

Second, I am so glad to hear that you became your own best advocate. So many people acquiesce to becoming victims to poor nursing care because they are either too sick to speak up or their families are too afraid of rocking the boat. Sometimes the boat needs rocked. Glad that things got better for you.
X 2!

Yeah, that too!

I hope you didn't have to resort to writing OPERATE HERE! on your chest with a magic marker.
The hospital staff does that, and yes, they use magic marker. Dh had my tracking #, and as you go through each stage of surgery, it updates on the video screen. I left surgery, and disappeared. When he inquired, he was informed I was in recovery, the screen hadn't updated for some reason. They went to find me, and I wasn't in recovery. I wasn't in recovery either. They discovered the transporter had left me in the hall instead of putting me in recovery. They called transport, and everything was to be corrected, but a few minutes later, I popped up on the screen as being in surgery again. Dh went again to ask about it. They checked. They found me in an empty surgical unit. When they called transport, they waited on the transporter, and made sure he transported me into the recovery room.

I'm feeling a little better today.

Duh, demerits to those who lost track of you. I would give them such a

. I was in the hospital once- wheeled out for tests and then the transporter(??) took me to the geriatric unit. I was only in my 30's then. The head nurse really chewed him out - "How could you think she was a geriatric patient??" I guess to young guys, 30 is ancient.
