The Old Folks Home

Good morning every one. It is morning isn't it?

We woke up to 5 more chicks peeping their little brains out in the little Brinsea. The last three have pipped. I think I was up 2-3 times with them. So far there are two blacks with a bit of white under their chins. One has white under his chin and wingtips, I'm looking forward to seeing what color it is when it feathers out. One is a classical looking chipmunk and what is funny is that the rest of them look like reversed chipmunks, white where they should be brown and brown where they should be white. I'll get a group picture when everybody is in the brooder and dried out.

I'm just amazed at how watching over and taking care of these eggs for 21 days and then watching them struggle into the world is so uplifting and invigorating. For the moment I feel young again! I told my husband last night around midnight that I felt a though I'd worked a 12 hour shift on the floor. I didn't get much sleep last night, wanting to keep an eye on the temp in the brooder and the chicks left to hatch. If I wasn't up, I think my husband was.

In the mean time the cats just want OUT of their confinement. One spent the night doing a mean drum riff on the door. I think Ginger Baker would have been proud of him, LOL

sounds like a great hatch are you gonna post pictures soon

I'm going to try for pics later. I want to give the ones that hatched today a chance to rest. The three that hatched yesterday are already eating out of my hand and pestering the ones that hatched today. It's so funny to see this pile of downy fuzz laying in the corner sleeping.

Drumstickdiva I can do even better than that!

I've got chick porn!

DH took a movie for me. As soon as he uploads it, I'll post.
