I have use the dollar store brand of batteries for nearly 20 years or more. They are tested in competition with other brands every year at Christmas and win every test.Dollar store batteries you have to buy the more expensive one's. I always check their weight, heavy one's last as long as any expensive batteries. The light one's only good for a TV remote or wall clock.
I don't buy seed potatoes anymore.
Just buy a few big bags of what one's I want and store them for a few months, much cheaper.
Last yr I cut them down small, as long as they had a eye, right down to about one inch square chunks. They grew great.
I have been saving some small red potatoes to grow this year I kept them in the dark to promote growth and they are ready.
Now if it will just dry up enough for us to get the garden set up to plant.

We also have the heavy clay soil here getaclue and it feels like your ice skating when you try to walk on it.
