The Old Folks Home

I had no idea you guys did Greek music in your church!

For Easter (Pascha), most Orthodox Churches try to sing the "Christ is Risen" song in as many languages as possible. There are other parts of the service where we also try to "branch out" so to speak. Usually the "extra" languages are Russian, Greek, and Arabic (since those are the biggest Orthodox Churches/ethnic groups). But here in Alaska, we also try to do several of the "Christ is Risen" greatings in various Alaskan native languages, and whatever languages any parishioners might be familiar with. For awhile there we had a contingent of teenagers/young adults who were crazy into Lord of the Rings, so the priest did the greeting in old english. That was funny. :D they loved it.

The Alaskan native languages are fun... some have those big swooping tone changes. Very not-English. I like the differences.

The vast majority of the service is in English.

So interesting!
Did anyone end the "Amen!" with "MY PRECIOUSSSSS"? Cause I would have. This is why I don't go out in public.

We do shout and bang on the church door with a big metal cross......

Maybe not as cool as yelling "my precious "..... hummmmm........I do have several kids that prefer being barefoot in church...no hair on the tops of their feet though....

Sitting here with a tumbler of Amaretto DiSarrono on ice and contemplating the meaning of life. I know there IS meaning there someplace...

Put in a good days physical labor today and have more to follow tomorrow. Soaked in the jacuzzi for 45 minutes of so, and need to go to bed and get some sleep. I don't feel rushed as I'll be awake at 3:30 anyway, then will take a while to get back to sleep, then up by 8. Maybe the amaretto will help

Forgot...going to bed now. Hope you sleep well.
