Quote: I feel your pain. We have a chandelier...I've never seen anything like it. I have a very ornate set of candlesticks that matches it. It's a carved brass? ornate piece. The jewels would be the easy part on mine. You'd have to use a tooth brush on it to get in and clean every little crevice. It's beautiful, but we took it down, wrapped it in plastic and put it away. We put up a smooth contemporary type light that can easily be wiped. One day we'll either pass it on or sell it...it's a beautiful antique. Kudos to you for getting yours cleaned!![]()
We just got a new $$$ hose as well. Non kinking. Quite nice!I'm quite excited to have it.![]()
I decided against resigning at this moment and did the driving refresher. Turns out it was only another driver and myself who kept the original dates, so I was glad I didn't resign with such bad timing. It was nice to see the trainers again (they trained me and are bus drivers for my previous division.) They are the reason that word travelled so fast to this division about my unemployed status and qualifications originally...lol.
We went for a nice coffee and I gave everyone got a carton of eggs. I made certain it was "after" I'd been graded. I'd never want to influence my marks with a bribe of farm fresh eggs.![]()

But to answer your question as to why I'm on the fence...
I like the job and the students. A lot. More than I ever thought I would. It's very fulfilling.
I'm good at my job (not trying to sound conceited, I'm just confident in my abilities at this job)
I've been doing this job for over a decade. Feeling really old saying this...lol
My bosses have been great at this division and the coordinator is AMAZING. I deal with her the most. She deserves an award or something.
BUT (and it's a HUGE but)
I'm getting old...ok older.![]()
The job is hard on my back and body.
The onus is on me if something happens. I find I spend more time running around getting things fixed because they haven't been fixed or haven't been reported. Ugh.
The is pay is less than ideal. And not that it's so much about the money...it's also the fact that I save more money staying home and running the equipment here than having to pay someone to come in and work for us. I don't make bussing what we'd have to pay someone to work for us.
And probably the most important, I don't really have the time to have a job. I know...that's a funny statement.![]()
I still feel obligated to this division though. Technically I resigned from my full time driving position at my son's school division in 2010. I loved that job. I resigned because of irreconcilable differences. I believe in honesty, being decent and respecting people who work hard for you. Let's just say the heads did not believe in that and I couldn't believe how they treated bus drivers who had been there for years. I was just a newbie but it was just terrible and underhanded. Somehow I got voted to be one of the drivers to work with the union in talks. (And I don't even like the union) That just made it more difficult for me. I eventually said screw it and resigned. It wasn't going to get any better. I wasn't at a very good place at that time. The day my current division called was the day we discovered that coyotes had hit our sheep and killed several ewes and lambs. Their call was the only bright spot in a very dark year.
I'm also in a good place with the chickens. I don't want to lose that. We had one of the top flocks of sheep at the time I originally started driving and I was the vice president of the Canadian association. All that got shifted to the background. I want to concentrate on my birds and get back to the sheep. That's about the l-o-n-g of it.![]()
Some of my relatives are just like your half la mancha.![]()

If it lives when I replant it. Pink. Lavender, Pink, Red, and White.
My FIL had a bunch of plum and cherry tree's, nice size, producing great, a few of them all the sudden died. He's pretty sure it's from his son's (who lives up behind him) dogs peeing on them all the time. I planted three rose bushes by my garage last summer. This fall I was like crap, the snow coming off the roof will probably ruin them this winter... What to cover them with? Have a lot of 55gal plastic barrels from work, halved some and covered them, worked great. Uncovered now and still no life yet, but the trees don't have leaves starting here yet either.Penny, you will have roses before you know it! I still have photos of mine from last year. I love the two colors that I have, I planted a real dark red yr. before last, nothing..I don't think it has enough room where it is, doesn't get enough light. Will try and replant it down at the other end. Now all I need is for that cat to stay out of that end. It's so full of kitty doo doo, I can't imagine the uruine. My bush I did plant there last yr. isn't doing well. Too much kitty urine. My roses from last yr. You've all seen them. Has anyone ever done the dark lavender? I think I will do a white one for sure. By my red.
If it lives when I replant it. Pink. Lavender, Pink, Red, and White.
Love this coral color.
