The Old Folks Home

Last year I thought I was having a stroke....  face felt numb eye wouldnt open....  went to the hospital.

Bells Palsy....  Round of antibiotics and some time and all was better.

They said it is caused by a viral infection in the inner ear where your facial nerves pass through.   Most likely the Shingles Virus...

I am old enough for the vaccine just havent found someone to give me an innoculation.

Huh.

Interesting Deb.

I hadn't heard that part...that it could have been caused by shingles.

Silly people...

My pond is still solid frozen every morning...mostly thawed by late afternoon.

Hate to tell you this Spookwriter, but it takes the human body at least a year to recover from a major surgery and the older we are ...... well, you can tack some time on anything that requires healing.

Just remember that pain is the body's way of telling you to STOP! NOW!

Worst surgery every? Gall Bladder and Appendectomy. Together. I don't have kids but told my mom that I would rather have a baby....without anesthetic. She swore having a baby was worse until she had her gall bladder out. The first thing she said to me when she woke up was "You were right!"

Been there done that.... I was screaming with every breath of the drive to the hospital.... then about a half a block away the pain was gone.... I wanted to go back Home.... Mom said.... Um that would be NO.

The surgery wasnt too bad they did it orthoscoptically.... I looked like some one had stuck me with a fork afterwards....

Alaskan how far south are you going - maybe contiguous USA ???

I got my shingles shot at a grocery store pharmacy, you aren't that old but I think Medicare paid for some/ or all part of it. My memory is mush. I don't remember it hurting. I've gotten better at shots since I am old. Was hysterical about them when young. Then decided how humiliated I would be if the high school kids knew that. So cleaned up my act.
I had chicken pox as a kid

I went to the hospital one morning after waking up in great pain and big blisters, huge water sack blisters ..on my butt..thigh..leg..pain..Woah! WEIRD!!
DW made me go, thought it might be shingles (I'm only 40?) They took samples, found nothing..? Nothing, told them about the spider. I do not like docs or hospitals. Lot's of pain after until it cleared up. DW still says it probably came from the big spider carcass she saw fall out of my sweatpants that morning. IDK? I hate to make it rain every time I smash one of those spiders...I have permanent scars from it whatever it was on said places. And no idea where or what it came from.

I can't say that was it, no clue. Lot's of drawn out red marks between the blisters like blood poisoning or something also. It was unreal. Went to bed..(three sheets to the wind) and how I woke up. I immediately blamed it on our new DD's cat, thinking she must have clawed me while I was 'out' thinking of 'cat scratch fever' and all. DW thought it might be shingles, her mother went through it awhile ago. It burned, pain.
Hospital pretty much told us nothing. They just asked 'whered you go, what did you get into?..'
I went to work, I came home, this is just how I woke up...
DW is probably right, it may have been a spider just chewing on me while I was out IDK, the blisters and marks, scars now, think I should just kill a cat. (Just kidding I don't think she did it

Real Shingles though, heard bad stuff on that, not something I would ever want.
They give chicken pox shots now before school, our kids call them Polka dot shots
