The Old Folks Home

I just got up so this may be moot.....research off lable uses for goats. I believe it can be used but you need to verify it....
@casportpony may know for sure
deb
Is moxidectin pour on more effective?
Edited to add:
@Alaskan , sorry I did not see your reply.
Disclaimer - I know nothing about goats!
Not familiar with that one.
But from what I understand the pour on types can get some of the external parasites on goats, but just are a very poor choice against internal.
Because of the rumen. ..the injectables are the best wide spectrum.
But I think those nasty flukes...the ones that sit all up in the windpipe, respond well to oral....
I don't have those...my sister in Texas has those in spades. Nasty things.
I can't remember what she uses for them.

Thank you everyone for that information on ivermectin pour on and goats.:bow After 19 years...my brain can finally rest. :th You also filled me in on why ivomec drench "for sheep" is strictly for sheep. It's all so incredibly interesting!

Ugh! Flukes! The only thing I've heard or read about about flukes close to us is the liver flukes in sheep. Super serious. I also dewormed with Valbazen and Safeguard to cover everything and to kill resistant worms.

The shin dig our vet office threw for their customers...which included a great information session on rotating Safeguard in the cattle deworming schedule to knock out Ivermectic resistant worms. It sounds like that getting quite common south in your neck of the woods. (Well, not you Alaskan ;)) Safeguard doesn't have the lengthy kill like Ivermectin but with the higher levels of product in the system...knocks the parasites out. They're not finding the resistance to it like ivermectin products.

Chicka those clothes look professional! Very nice!

I'll share this - Dsqard and I collaborated on a project for a friend. Said friend raises campine chickens and it isn't a secret that said friend is going through a rough patch, her father just passed away (and I would know nothing about how life shattering that is).

Anyway, here's the finished product that we were happy to present her with and the photo it was based on:

Superchemicalgirl, beautiful, simply beautiful is all I can say.

I got my chicken 'diamond art' cross stitch project from Banggood yesterday. Well, it isn't cross stitch, it isn't cotton cross stitch fabric and it definitely isn't for older eyes but hey, I'm up to the challenge. Mainly it's gluing these pinhead sized 'jewels' to the plastic canvas sorta like a paint by number set only with these little rhinestone thingies. Even with my high add bifocals my eyes were aching last night after I was working on it. I promise pictures when finished.
That is pretty quick, isn't it? Nice! Can't wait to see it! :ya
Incase that wasn't clear...I backed up into it.
...:hugs It'll make for good reminiscing for years to come. ;)

I don't want to quote anymore. :he

I was going to mention yesterday that it froze here the night before...but then it froze again last night. Everyone's been killing me with news that your gardens are being sowed and such. Envious. I'm glad now I didn't have mine planted/anything up.:clap I did get it tilled last night :yesss:...I could see my breath when I finished a 11pm last night. Brrrr. It's a good job done.:wee Feeling very good that I got both the garden tilled AND all the roosters done and some roosters moved out into the pens.:th

Candled my eggs and all 19 Ameraucana eggs have spiders. I set 36 guinea eggs and all but 6 have spiders...some were 3 weeks old so not bad. I set more to make it 41 eggs guinea eggs and the hen is sitting on 5-6. That should make for an interesting hatch. o_O

I'm glad we don't normally have bears and that we don't have keas. We do have cougars south of us...I hope they stay away. I tried to drink more coffee to warm up and my hands are on fire and splitting open. Silly allergies.

Al, if your eldest does decide to go away for college, we don't have to go through the "foreigner with a van lurking at the airport" thing again, do we?

Ha!

Nope...or at least I don't think so.

He is right now in Juneau, he could decide to start college there. Tiny town.

If he doesn't start college in Juneau, he will come back home for the first year...way less money.

Of course, he is 18 now.

Maybe he will decide to work at a logging camp....or...or...

No telling.

I have had my hands split open once.

Very unpleasant.

Some old lady gave me this super thick sticky cream to cover the backs of my hands...and it healed up fast.

Sure hope yours heal up fast too.

I think I missed the foreigner/van event

It's an ongoing thing. I like coffee. Ice cream, certain foods with chocolate, tomato juice for goodness sakes. (and I LOVE tomato juice now) My elbow is having issues so I must be sensitive to the tablecloth. It's a crap shoot. I wear vinyl gloves when I handle questionable stuff...for example chores and the animals and raw meats...so I don't get infection. :thumbsup And never too much of one thing at one time. The more I spread things out in small amounts...the better it is.
