The Old Folks Home

Hello, All!

I'm just checking in, I have been Soooooo busy that I have barely had time to breathe. I miss all you guys, and hope to be active here again, soon!! Take care of The Home for me, and make the new Old Folks feel welcome. Take care of yourselves, too. I care about my old Old Folks.

Breathing is important, always make time for that!
Yesterday when I pulled onto the road I live on, I discovered the house at the end had brought home an enormous metal rooster. I almost drove off the road.
Here I had been feeling bad that I probably have 15 or so roosters, plus the toms gobbling, the goats screaming and the flock of possessed guinea hens...
Either they're making fun of it, or they like it.

I'm going with they like it.
Oooh, is it the one that they have at TSC? I was so afraid I was going to wind up with that the first year they had them right around mothers day:oops:

Yep...I have just sucked up raw squirrel blood....yep...blood from a tree rat.

Or maybe weasel....or both.

Kid told me it is most likely weasel blood.....not as many diseases in them.

:lau

I am sure I am safe. :)

Came home today... they had hung a dead (unskinned, ungutted, still whole) squirrel on the fence by the front door.

Silly boys.....I told them that normal people skin them out BEFORE they rot.

My kids are so cool. Clearly not city kids. :ya

:lau

They like skinning things. I was telling them that the heads on the driveway really need to get picked up. If they wanna stick them on the fence...all well and good...but left on the driveway and lawn is just tacky. :D

Unless you put solar LED lights in the heads to light them up, and line the driveway with them.

That's too funny! One of our feed stores got in the huge metal roosters. I went up and hugged one!:love The store staff had put a tie on it. wtf.gif gig.gif  Dh said he'd buy one for me for my birthday. Of course my birthday was back in March...lol. I think he missed that boat. But the rooster was $200!:th

What a week! We are trying to get done seeding and spraying. The one timber for the wooden trailer for the water tank broke in two. It was pretty old. Then on the way to pick up one of our bale trailers to use for the water tank...the rim blew out on the tractor! On the highway!

It's our newest tractor too!:barnie Neither of us have ever seen that happen. Mental note to pick up more reflective tape and pylons in case of emergencies. So now we have a lovely new fire pit ring.:clap Not that we use a fire pit, but hey....lookin' at the bright side.

We had enough time to pick up our new glasses. OMG...I LOVE :love the new progressives! I can see! :yesss:

I also got all the non selected roosters moved to the outdoor pens, leaving the best in the shed. I was pretty close...there's somewhere between 60-65. I got it down to 40ish.:yesss:

And I am loving the new plastic rings for the chickens' legs. Better yet, I found similar rings online...all colors and even numbered rings! And they're cheaper!:woot
